Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my interest in an Artificial Intelligence implementation and integration course that I would like to take an admission in.
This training program has been organized by a renowned organization in London, UK. The program offers a deep understanding of emerging AI technology and its potential to transform traditional software industry which required significant manpower into a highly efficiently autonomous working tool.
Since our company is a UK based organization, I would really appreciate if it could sponsor me a trip to visit our head office and also help me to attend the training course being held in London. The city is expensive, so I hope the company would cover the accommodation and living expenses during the stay.
In my opinion, the training If I could get, would provide me with the skills needed to introduce and implement the demanding technology for the industry. It has fairly high chances to scale up the service and delivery while reducing the time that otherwise spent on hiring and training of the new staff.
I hope you for a positive response from the management and am waiting eagerly for your reply.
Kind regards,
Nishant Shrivastava

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the prompt effectively. You clearly described the AI course, explained the support required from the company (sponsorship and travel assistance), and articulated the professional benefits of the training. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. To reach a higher band, ensure that your explanations are slightly more detailed; for instance, you could have specified exactly how the AI implementation would benefit your current specific projects rather than speaking in general terms about the industry. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing each prompt requirement, and a formal closing. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Since our company' and 'In my opinion' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition into the final paragraph is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing is consistently clear would help elevate the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'implementation', 'integration', 'renowned', and 'autonomous'. There are some minor issues with collocation and word choice, such as 'take an admission in' (should be 'enroll in') and 'sponsor me a trip' (should be 'sponsor my trip'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word combinations. To improve, focus on learning common collocations in a professional context and avoid slightly awkward phrasing like 'fairly high chances to scale up'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are several grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of your writing. For instance, 'the training If I could get, would provide' is syntactically awkward and contains a punctuation error. Additionally, 'the time that otherwise spent' is missing a verb ('is' or 'would be'). While you attempt complex structures, the control is inconsistent. Focus on ensuring subject-verb agreement and correct word order within complex clauses to improve your accuracy and reach a higher band.
