Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses all three bullet points, but the development is insufficient. While you mention the course and its benefits, the explanation of how the company could help is vague; you ask for details rather than explicitly requesting support such as funding or time off. Furthermore, the response is significantly under the 150-word minimum, which limits your ability to fully develop your ideas. To improve, you should expand on the specific nature of the training and provide a clearer request regarding the company's involvement, ensuring you meet the length requirement to allow for full task completion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter lacks a clear structure. The paragraphing is inconsistent, and the flow of ideas is somewhat disjointed. You use basic cohesive devices like 'and' and 'so', but there is a lack of variety in linking words to connect your sentences and ideas logically. The transition between the introduction and the body is abrupt. To improve, use a clear paragraph for each bullet point and incorporate a wider range of cohesive devices such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' to guide the reader through your argument more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'help', and 'things', which do not demonstrate the range required for higher bands. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'benifits', 'timr', 'propmt', and 'ypu', which interfere with the professional tone of the letter. To improve, focus on using more precise, topic-specific vocabulary related to professional development and IT, and ensure you proofread your work to eliminate basic spelling mistakes that detract from your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The grammar is frequently inaccurate, with persistent errors in sentence structure, punctuation, and capitalization. For example, 'i' is consistently written in lowercase, and there are issues with subject-verb agreement and tense usage, such as 'today world going to full trained'. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and the lack of proper punctuation makes the text difficult to follow. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensure all sentences begin with capital letters, and practice using a mix of complex sentence structures to demonstrate greater grammatical control.
