Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to bring to your attention about the medical EMR software workshop, where I would be able to gain hands on training in multiple software.
As I work as a clinic coordinator at a multiple location, where they use different EMR software, sometimes it is difficult to understand the technical part of the softwares. However, this training course offer the understanding of all the softwares which we right from the basic to depth.
I would like to request a paid leave for three days and to cover the travel expenses and the partial course fee by the company.
Certainly, I would be a tressure and would be happy to invest all my knowledge and experience to the organisation and being a senior employee it would be helpful for me to address the complications which the new employees are facing.
Thank you.
With Regards,
Vishnu

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: describing the course, explaining the company's role, and detailing the benefits. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the course covers 'basic to depth' software, providing a specific example of a skill or module would have strengthened your argument. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though the expression 'I would be a tressure' is slightly unnatural in a professional context. Overall, you have fulfilled the requirements of the task, but more specific detail would elevate the response to a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical structure, with each paragraph addressing a specific requirement of the prompt. You use basic paragraphing effectively to separate your points. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical. For example, the transition 'However' in the second paragraph is used slightly awkwardly given the context of the previous sentence. Additionally, the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in addition to this') to create a more natural progression of ideas. The referencing is generally clear, though some phrasing remains slightly disjointed.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'clinic coordinator' and 'technical part'. However, there are some noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'softwares' (software is an uncountable noun) and 'tressure' (likely a misspelling of 'treasure'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on using uncountable nouns correctly and expanding your range of professional collocations. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the flexibility and sophistication required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'I am writing to bring to your attention...' and '...it would be helpful for me to address the complications which the new employees are facing.' There are several grammatical errors, such as the redundant 'about' after 'attention', the incorrect pluralization of 'softwares', and the awkward phrasing 'at a multiple location'. While these errors are frequent, they rarely prevent the reader from understanding your intent. To reach a higher band, you should focus on subject-verb agreement and refining your use of prepositions and articles.
