Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to inform you about the training course, which advertisement listed online and it would be helpful, If I could join it and finish the course to get me promotion in our company.
Recently, I saw an advertisement of "advance learning of mapping digitization" course, which is only 5 weeks course and have minimum amount of fees to pay to finish it and once I would be finish, they will give me a certificate, which would help me to get a promotion in our multi-national company.
As per our company's rule, you could help me some compensation to pay my enrollment fees for the online course. Also, you could help me to give a short break for 5 weeks in work to finish this online course.
Well, once I will finish this course, it would help me to get a promotion in our company as in our company's senior position requirement of the exact skill, which would be fulfilled by this online course.
I hope you would help me to finish the online training course and provide me some fund as well as paid holidays to finish it in their requirement time period.
Your respectively,
Smit.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: describing the course, requesting company support, and explaining the benefits. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the mention of a 'promotion' is repeated in almost every paragraph, which limits the depth of the response. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the closing 'Your respectively' is incorrect. To improve, you should focus on expanding the specific details of the course content and providing a more professional justification for the company's investment, rather than focusing solely on personal career advancement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'once I will finish' and 'in our company' appear frequently, making the flow feel slightly stilted. While the progression of ideas is clear, the transition between the request for funding and the request for time off could be smoother. Using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' 'in addition to') would improve the overall flow and cohesion of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'help me' and 'finish the course' multiple times. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'minimum amount of fees' instead of 'reasonable tuition fees' or 'affordable cost.' The closing salutation 'Your respectively' is a lexical error that affects the formal tone. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more specific professional terminology related to training and corporate development, and ensure that your word choices are more varied throughout the letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'which advertisement listed online' (missing subject/verb agreement), 'help me some compensation' (incorrect verb usage), and 'in their requirement time period' (incorrect preposition/adjective usage). While the meaning is generally clear, these errors occur consistently. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately without missing articles or auxiliary verbs.
