Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response successfully covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. First, the student describes the training course clearly by specifying that it is a sales management course running for two months, culminating in a practical exam focused on communication skills. Second, the company's assistance is outlined through a request for a flexible work schedule, specifically asking to work from Monday to Thursday or from Friday to Sunday during specific hours. Third, the usefulness of the course is explained, noting that it will provide an opportunity to travel abroad, communicate directly with international companies, and understand foreign customer preferences. The tone is appropriate for a professional letter to a manager. Although the prompt requests beginning the letter with 'Dear Sir or Madam,' the student used 'Dear Sir,' which is a minor slip but does not prevent the full realization of the task requirements. Overall, the ideas are sufficiently developed and relevant to the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter maintains a clear logical flow from the purpose of the email to the description of the course, the request for assistance, and finally the benefits for the job. Paragraphing is used reasonably well to separate distinct ideas, such as the introduction of the course, the scheduling request, and the overall rationale for attending. However, some cohesive devices are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'or either I will be able to do work from home,' which disrupts the smooth progression of ideas. Referencing is generally clear, but sentence-to-sentence transitions could be tightened to achieve a more cohesive and natural structure throughout the letter. Despite these minor issues, the overall arrangement is coherent and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to incorporate less common items and business-related terms such as 'practical exam,' 'communication skills,' and 'direct communication.' However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'buyers related their products' instead of 'buyers regarding their products' or 'make a goods' instead of 'produce goods' or 'create products.' There are also a few spelling slips, such as 'beileve.' Despite these limitations, the lexical range is sufficient to convey the intended message clearly without impeding overall communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional and multi-clause sentences. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several noticeable errors, including tense and modal verb issues in 'I beileve that would be,' missing prepositions, and awkward phrasing in long, convoluted sentences like 'I would really appreciate if could allow me...' and 'in between 10 AM to 2 PM because my classes time will be 3 to 7 PM.' Punctuation is also slightly problematic, with missing spaces after periods. While these errors do not completely obscure the meaning, they occur frequently enough to prevent the response from achieving a higher band score.
