Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The letter partially addresses all the required bullet points from the prompt, although the development of ideas is limited. You mention a job-related course and attempt to explain its usefulness by stating you want to improve your communication skills as a phone caller. You also attempt to cover company support by asking for permission to work from home. However, the description of the actual training course itself is extremely vague, lacking specific details such as the course name, duration, or content. Furthermore, the greeting 'Respected sir' is inappropriate for a formal business letter in the IELTS context, and the sign-off conventions are slightly mixed. Because the ideas are underdeveloped and lack specificity, the response fits best within Band 5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter lacks appropriate paragraphing and is essentially structured as one large block broken only by single-sentence lines, which prevents a clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are repetitive and basic, relying heavily on consecutive 'because' and 'and' conjunctions to link long, run-on clauses, such as in the sentence: 'I am writing this letter about my job related course and I will do this course, because it is more brneficial for my job...'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the mechanical repetition of sentence structures makes the logical flow halting. Considering these organizational weaknesses, the response corresponds to a Band 4.5, rounded to a stable 5.0 for overall comprehensibility.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Vocabulary usage is basic, repetitive, and restricted to simple everyday language. You rely on elementary words such as 'job', 'good', and 'help', repeating them frequently throughout the letter. There are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, including 'brneficial' instead of beneficial, 'tour' instead of your, and awkward phrasing like 'phone caller' instead of customer service representative or call handler. There is a lack of less common or idiomatic vocabulary suitable for a formal professional request. These frequent errors and the limited lexical range restrict the score to Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is severely limited, consisting mainly of very long, repetitive compound sentences joined by coordinating conjunctions like 'and' and 'so'. There is a lack of control over complex sentence structures, and punctuation is largely neglected, resulting in run-on sentences with missing full stops or commas used incorrectly. Frequent errors in verb tenses and forms are present, such as 'I have improve my communication skills' instead of 'I want to improve' or 'I need to improve', and 'on that time do not understand'. These grammatical errors and the lack of structural variety place this response firmly at Band 4.0.
