Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task prompt, though some areas are slightly underdeveloped. You successfully describe the training course you want to do by mentioning the advertisement regarding IT skills. You also explain what the company could do to help you by asking your manager to review your CV and help you get enrolled despite the high number of applicants. Furthermore, you state how the course will be useful for your job, pointing out that it will help you learn the basics of IT, boost your skills, facilitate online meetings with international clients, and increase your promotion prospects. However, the tone fluctuates slightly, and the letter addresses the manager as 'Dear Sir or Madam' initially, but the sign-off and opening use 'Dear Sir'. Overall, the key requirements of the task are met clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is arranged with an overall coherent structure, utilizing basic paragraphing to separate different points such as course description, company assistance, and job usefulness. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', 'In addition', and 'Moreover', though some of these links feel somewhat mechanical or repetitive in their placement. Referencing is generally clear, but punctuation around cohesive markers contains minor lapses, such as spaces before commas. Paragraphing is present, but the physical spacing and formatting of paragraphs are slightly irregular. Overall, ideas progress logically from introducing the course request to asking for assistance and detailing job benefits.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to use less common items such as 'beneficial', 'international clients', and 'permotion'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, such as 'cousre' instead of course, 'boast' instead of boosted or improved, and 'permotion' instead of promotion. Some phrases are also slightly unnatural, such as 'with a concern of training course'. Despite these lexical errors and typos, the meaning remains clear throughout the response, allowing the reader to follow your intentions without significant strain.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation inaccuracies throughout the text. Examples include comma splices and run-on sentences, such as 'I work for an international company I really enjoyed my work' and 'I will be thankful If you allow me to get enrolled in this course i have submitted my application , But due to number of students...'. Capitalisation and spacing errors are also common. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they lower the overall accuracy of the writing.
