Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The candidate addresses all three key bullet points required by the task prompt. The letter begins with an accidental introductory fragment at the very top, but the main body successfully describes the marketing course, explains what the company needs to do to help by providing a character certificate and experience letter, and demonstrates how the course will be useful for the job. The ideas are relevant and generally clear, such as mentioning social media handles and business purposes. However, some points, particularly the exact details of the course, remain slightly under-developed, and the letter ends rather abruptly. Overall, the response fulfills the task requirements reasonably well, earning a solid band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter maintains a reasonably clear logical organisation, beginning with the correct salutation 'Dear Sir or Madam,' and flowing from the course request to company assistance and finally to workload management. Paragraphing is used to separate distinct topics, which aids readability. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or lacking, as seen in transitions like 'Furthermore,I will train'. Referencing is mostly clear, but the overarching progression stumbles slightly near the end where sentences trail off incomplete. Cohesion is functional overall, granting the text a clear cohesive structure that fits a band 6.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student displays an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'certified marketing course', 'active employee', and 'temporary absence'. However, there are notable spelling errors and typos throughout the text, including 'facilite' instead of facilitate, 'adds' instead of ads, 'chracter' instead of character, 'benficial' instead of beneficial, and fragmented introductory lines. Despite these inaccuracies, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended message without heavily impeding communication, which places the response securely at a band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating control over relative clauses and conditionals such as 'I am writing this letter to request...' and 'If you allot me...'. There are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings, such as 'I learnt a lot skills', 'Now, I got an opportunity', 'gaining this course', and missing punctuation or spacing after commas and periods. Furthermore, the final sentence is incomplete. While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede communication entirely. The control of grammar aligns with a band 6 level.
