Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The candidate successfully covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. First, the training course is clearly described as a three-day program focusing on communication and leadership skills, including practical activities and teamwork exercises. Second, company assistance is requested regarding funding and time off, as seen in the phrase "help me to pay me course fee" and asking for "the necessary time off". Finally, the usefulness of the course is explicitly stated, noting that it will help communicate more effectively with colleagues and customers. Although the salutation "Dear Manager" is slightly unnatural given the prompt asked to begin with "Dear Sir or Madam", the communicative purpose and task requirements are fully met, earning a solid Band 6.5.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introductory paragraph, body paragraphs addressing course details, company support, and usefulness, and a proper sign-off. Cohesive devices are used to guide the reader through the letter, for example, using "The course will be held...", "I would be grateful if...", and "I belive this course will be useful...". Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct ideas. However, referencing and transitions are at times a bit mechanical, preventing it from reaching a higher band. Overall, the organization displays a clear progression and coherent arrangement fitting a Band 6.5 descriptor.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, attempting some less common collocations such as "communication and leadership skills", "practical activities", and "effectively with colleagues and customers". However, there are several noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as writing "sport" instead of "support", "recentlt" instead of "recently", "activties" instead of "activities", "situation" instead of "situations", "me course fee" instead of "my course fee", "learning" instead of "learned", "confident" instead of "confidence", and "leaning skills" instead of "learning skills" or "listening skills". These errors do not impede overall communication, but their frequency places the response firmly at Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The candidate demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, successfully utilizing subordinate clauses such as "I am writing to ask..." and "...so that I can easily focus whatever I have learning." Grammatical control varies. While many sentences are straightforward and clear, there are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings, including "help me to pay me course fee", "focus whatever I have learning", and spelling slips like "belive". Punctuation is generally acceptable, and the meaning remains clear despite the errors. This balance of simple and complex forms with recurring inaccuracies aligns well with the Band 6.0 descriptors.
