Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response responds to the task only minimally. While all three bullet points are touched upon in a basic way—mentioning an advertisement about computer features, asking for support, and stating it would help the company—the ideas are heavily under-developed and lack sufficient detail. Furthermore, the length requirement is not met, as the response falls significantly short of the 150-word minimum, containing only 109 words. To reach a higher level, you must fully develop each part of the prompt with specific explanations and ensure you meet the required word count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
Information and ideas are not arranged coherently in this response. The text lacks proper paragraphing, being presented as a single block of text with little logical progression. Basic cohesive devices are absent or misused, and the lack of standard formal letter formatting, such as inappropriate openings and closings like 'Dear madam' and 'sincerly joban', makes the overall structure difficult to follow. To improve, you should organise your writing into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus, and use appropriate linking words to connect your ideas logically.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent spelling mistakes and errors in word choice and word formation that strain the reader's understanding. Examples include 'werks' for weeks, 'advertisment', 'anmnout yhe', 'skiils', 'nnone dheet', 'hood', 'oragnize', 'vompany', 'readon', 'ne', 'gor', and 'lesrn'. There are also inappropriate terms used for a workplace context, such as referring to yourself as an 'international student' in a letter to a manager. To progress, you need to expand your vocabulary range, learn correct spellings, and use words accurately in the appropriate context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The writing demonstrates a very limited range of structures, consisting mostly of simple sentences linked poorly. Errors in grammar, punctuation, and capitalization are frequent and often distort the meaning. Noticeable issues include lower-case starting letters ('i hope', 'sincerly joban'), missing articles, incorrect prepositions, and faulty verb tenses such as 'i gave seen advertisment'. Punctuation is also neglected throughout the letter. To achieve a higher band, you need to use a wider variety of sentence structures with control over punctuation, capitalization, and basic grammatical rules.
