Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt, fulfilling the requirements for a general training letter. You have described the training course by mentioning its duration and basic content, explained how the company could help by requesting a reduction in working hours, and stated how it will be useful by noting that you can share tips with your team. However, some ideas remain slightly under-developed. For instance, the description of the course and the specific skills it offers lacks elaboration, as terms like customer service are introduced briefly without further context. To reach a higher level, you should extend your explanations further and provide more specific details about the training content and its direct workplace application.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical structure typical of a formal request letter, with an appropriate opening and closing. Paragraphing is used to separate distinct points, such as describing the course, asking for assistance, and explaining the benefits to the company. Cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'In addition', and 'Therefore' are employed to connect ideas, though referencing is occasionally mechanical or repetitive. To move towards a higher standard, you could make the transitions between sentences smoother and vary your cohesive devices to avoid a formulaic progression of ideas, ensuring the flow of information feels more natural and integrated throughout the letter.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

An adequate vocabulary is used for the task, successfully communicating your message despite noticeable limitations. You make several attempts at less common vocabulary and workplace terms, such as 'enhance my knowledge' and 'team members'. However, there are notable spelling errors like 'disscuss', 'perticular', 'knowleadge', 'focuss', and 'Sencrely', alongside awkward word choices such as 'write to discuss with you the course that I want to' and 'provide me a time'. These errors do not completely impede communication, but they restrict your lexical score. To achieve a higher band, you need to demonstrate greater precision in word choice, correct spelling errors, and use a wider range of collocation and phrasing appropriate for a professional request.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and some attempt at complex sentence forms, effectively communicating the core message. There are several grammatical errors present, such as preposition and article issues like 'in sales department' instead of 'in the sales department', 'around three months of duration' instead of 'a duration of around three months', and 'hear forward from you' instead of 'hear back from you'. Punctuation errors also occur, such as comma splices in sentences containing 'As I am working five days a week, It may not provide me...'. These errors do not seriously impede overall communication, but they occur with some regularity. To reach a higher score, you should aim for greater control over complex sentence structures and eliminate basic grammatical and punctuation slips.
