Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

My name is Sam Curren. I have been working with your company 'Global GreenTech Technology' for several years as a Marketing Head which requires dealing with project management, role in decision making and collaborating woth team as well as clients. I would want to enroll in the Business management training course for 3 months which will cover core aspects of communication skills and real life case scenarios. This will not only help me with building my career prospects but also strengthen my communication skills while dealing with clients as well as other professionals,

Since this course is exclusively a practical course with some theory concepts. I could only work for four days in a week, as I have to attend the lectures on weekends. I would hereby request you to allot my professional duties to other team leaders. Also, I have spoken to them in advance regarding this and they have agreed to work extra on weekends.

This course will be beneficial for boosting my career prospects as well as enhancing my collaborative skills which will not only improve my productivity and efficacy but also enhance my inter-personal skills.

I hereby request you to look into this and provide me with a solution. Looking foward for your positive response.

Yours Sincerly,

Rita Matthews.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three points: you describe a three-month business management course, request help with reallocating duties, and explain that it could improve communication and collaboration. The details about weekend lectures and colleagues’ willingness to cover extra work make the request relevant. However, the course description and its direct connection to your current marketing role could be developed more fully; for example, explain which course topics would help you manage projects or make decisions. The request for support is also somewhat unclear because you say you can work only four days but do not specify whether you need time off, schedule changes, or financial assistance. Clarifying the exact support sought would make the letter more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a clear overall structure, with separate paragraphs for your background and course, the practical arrangement you need, and the course’s benefits. This makes the main purpose easy to follow. Some links between ideas are mechanical or unclear, however. The opening paragraph combines several details in a long sentence, and the transition from the course being practical to needing to work four days is not fully explained. The final paragraph repeats benefits already mentioned rather than adding a distinct point. Use clearer sequencing and reference—for example, explain directly that weekend lectures require a change to your work schedule—so the reader can follow the request without having to infer the connection.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of workplace and training vocabulary, including “project management,” “decision making,” “case scenarios,” and “collaborative skills.” These choices communicate the topic, and some less common terms show an attempt to be precise. There are, however, several inaccurate or unnatural expressions, such as “allot my professional duties to other team leaders,” “boosting my career prospects,” and “enhance my inter-personal skills.” Spelling errors such as “woth,” “foward,” and “Sincerly” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully; more precise wording will make the request sound professional and help distinguish the course’s practical benefits from general career advantages.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “a Marketing Head which requires…” and a conditional-style explanation of the schedule. Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical and punctuation errors are noticeable. For example, “Since this course is exclusively a practical course with some theory concepts” is a sentence fragment, and the opening sentence has an unclear clause structure. The comma after “professionals” should be a full stop, while “I would want to enroll” is less suitable than a direct, polite request such as “I would like to enrol.” Work on complete sentence construction, clause links, and punctuation while retaining your attempts at longer structures.
