Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the three requested points: you identify a four-week leadership development course, ask for managerial approval, and explain that it could strengthen your leadership skills. The purpose of the letter is clear and the details are relevant. However, the explanation of what the company could do is mostly limited to approving your attendance; you could also specify practical support, such as paying the fee or arranging cover for your duties. The course description is quite general, and its value to your current work is not illustrated with a specific example. Developing these points more fully would make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening request, a paragraph describing the course, a paragraph seeking approval, and a concluding statement. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with” and “Finally” help the reader follow the progression, and the closing is appropriate. However, some linking is mechanical, and the final paragraph repeats the idea of becoming a better leader without adding much new information. The connection between the course and specific workplace responsibilities could also be made clearer. Use transitions that show the relationship between ideas, and ensure each paragraph advances a distinct part of your request.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a formal request, including “leadership development,” “managerial approval,” and “beneficial.” These choices make the topic and purpose clear. There are, however, some awkward or imprecise expressions, such as “job title” where you mean your role, “saw ad” without an article, and “elevate my skills,” which is not a natural collocation in this context. “Training course,” “training,” and “leader” are also repeated. Aim for more precise workplace language and natural collocations, for example by describing how the course will strengthen particular management skills and support your responsibilities.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, including the relative clause in “a training course that could be helpful” and the conditional construction “It will help me understand…”. Most sentences are clear, and grammatical errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your request. Some errors remain, including the missing article in “I recently saw ad” and the awkward construction “request you to please provide your assistance.” The sentence beginning “As per the information…” is also somewhat cumbersome. To improve, check articles and make request structures more direct, such as “I would be grateful if you could approve my attendance.”
