Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this regarding a training course which I recently saw in the advertisement. The course name is business analysis which is part time and will be completed in six months. I am thinking to get enrolled in this course.

Firstly, this course might be helpful for me to enhance my business skills and develop more stratergies. This could lead to enhance my business intelligence. Secondly, this course is part-time which might be great for me to take part while doing my job.

I want to request you to change my schdeule from weekdays to weekends. So, I could easily take online sessions and complete my assignments on time. Moreover, my co-colleages may also helped me in upcomimg presentations.

This course will also be useful for my job because it is a practical course where we are dealing with international clients. This could be helped me to take international clients to our business which boost our company's sales and reputation.

I would appreciate if you could helped me in this matter. I look forward to from you.

Yours sincerely,

Kajal Sharma.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three points: you describe a six-month, part-time business analysis course, request a change to weekend scheduling, and explain that the training could help with international clients and company sales. The purpose of the letter is clear and the ideas are relevant. However, some points are less fully explained than others. For example, the request to change your schedule is not entirely clear: explain whether you need the company to adjust your work hours or support a course timetable. The benefit to the company is also asserted rather than illustrated; specify how analysis skills would improve a particular task, such as preparing client presentations. A clearer, more fully developed explanation of these points would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces the course, explains the request, and then describes its relevance to your work. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Moreover” make the sequence easy to follow. At times, however, linking is mechanical or the relationship between ideas is unclear. For instance, “Moreover, my co-colleagues may also helped me in upcoming presentations” does not clearly connect the colleagues’ role to your request for weekend sessions. The final paragraph also moves quickly from practical course content to attracting clients and improving reputation. Use clearer references and explain the links between these ideas so the progression feels more natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the letter, including relevant terms such as “business analysis,” “international clients,” “assignments,” and “reputation.” These help communicate the course and its possible workplace value. You also attempt more specific expressions, but some word choices, collocations, and spelling errors reduce precision: “enhance my business intelligence” is not a natural way to express the intended benefit, while “take international clients to our business” is unclear. There are also spelling errors in “stratergies,” “schdeule,” and “upcomimg.” Choose more natural business collocations and proofread carefully; for example, describe how the course will help you “analyse client needs” or “develop effective business strategies.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple sentences and longer structures, including clauses with “which,” “because,” and “so,” and the main message remains understandable. Some grammatical errors occur, particularly with verb forms and sentence construction. For example, “This could be helped me” should be “This could help me,” and “my co-colleagues may also helped me” should use the base form after “may.” In “I would appreciate if you could helped me,” the verb after “could” should also be in its base form. The closing phrase “I look forward to from you” needs a grammatical completion, such as “I look forward to hearing from you.” Review modal verbs and common formal-letter patterns, while continuing to use varied sentence structures.
