Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter to tell you about a training course that i found recently and i would like request a support from the company to join it.

The course is about advanced digital marketing and communication skills, it is an online program which takes about 4 weeks to complete and it covers essential topics like social media management, customer handling and online advertising.

I would like the company help me in couple of ways. First, I want to ask for financial support because course fees is quite high for me and it would be great if you allow me to leave eraly on friday afternoon so I could join online class on time.

This course will be so much important for me daily job. As I start working in marketing management, the skills I learn from this course improve my overall progress in marketing and attract more customers towards our company . This would ultimately improve company growth and sales.

I hope you will consider my request and support me in this learning opportunity.

Yours faithfully,

Maninder

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The letter addresses all three requirements: you describe an online digital-marketing course, request financial help and an early Friday finish, and explain how the learning could support your marketing work and benefit the company. The purpose is clear from the opening, and the closing politely reinforces your request. You also give useful course details, including its four-week duration and topics such as social media management and online advertising. To make the ideas more fully developed, explain more specifically how the course skills would apply to your current responsibilities—for example, how you would use customer-handling techniques or advertising knowledge in a particular task. The benefit to the company is relevant, though the claim about improving growth and sales would be stronger with a clearer link to your own work.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The information follows a clear, sensible order: you introduce the course, describe it, make your requests, explain its value, and close politely. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and signposting such as “First” makes the support request easy to follow. The progression is generally clear, with the course details leading naturally into the explanation of its usefulness. Some connections could be smoother: the request for financial support and permission to leave early are placed together, but the relationship between them is not explained. The final explanation also moves quickly from your learning to company growth. Use a linking sentence to show how applying the new skills would lead to better marketing outcomes, and vary transitions rather than relying mainly on basic sequencing.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a workplace request, including relevant terms such as “digital marketing,” “social media management,” “online advertising,” and “financial support.” These make the course and your needs understandable. There are, however, some inaccurate or unnatural choices and collocations, such as “request a support,” “course fees is quite high,” and “improve my overall progress in marketing.” “Daily job” is also less natural than “day-to-day work.” These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling, as in “early,” before sending a formal letter.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The letter includes both simple statements and longer sentences, for example the sentence describing the course and the explanation beginning “As I start working in marketing management.” This shows some range, and the main message remains clear despite some grammatical errors. Several patterns need attention: “i would like request” is missing “to”; “I would like the company help me” needs “to” before “help”; and “course fees is” has a subject–verb agreement problem. The sentence beginning “As I start…” also needs a clearer, grammatically complete connection to the main clause. Capitalise “I” consistently and check punctuation around longer sentences. More accurate control of these structures would make the letter sound more polished.
