Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Mr, Brown

I am writing to ask permission to join a training course which I saw an avertisement.

Baesd on its description, this workshop is going to be held in Goa for a two-day in next month. It will explain in detail about practical skills, such as mobilization, manupulation, soft tissue release and cupping. At the end of this course, an instructor will provide a valid cartification that allows to practise in clinical settings.

I would like to request that if our company grant for this manual therapy course, we can introduce these techniques in our profession. I would really grateful if our clinic could arrange my travelling expense and accommodation during that time.

These various methods are very useful for eveyone. Clients can receive more services under one roof that can give a better result of their conditions. In addition, we can boost our business by having more facilities for patients.

I look forward to hearing a positive response from you,

Yours sincerely,

Raj Patel

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The letter covers all three requested points: it describes a two-day manual-therapy workshop in Goa, asks the company to fund the course and travel/accommodation, and explains potential benefits for clients and the clinic. The purpose is clear from the opening, and the examples of techniques make the course description relevant. However, the usefulness to your own job is less fully explained: the benefits are framed mainly as services for clients and business growth, rather than showing how the new skills would improve your day-to-day work or outcomes. The request for company support is also somewhat unclear in “if our company grant for this course.” More specific links between the training and your responsibilities, alongside a clearer funding request, would make the response more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The information is arranged in a sensible sequence: purpose, course details, request for support, and expected benefits. Paragraphing helps distinguish these points, and phrases such as “At the end of this course” and “In addition” guide the reader through the letter. The overall progression is clear, though some connections are mechanical or imprecise. For example, “These various methods” refers back to the techniques, but the link to the preceding request could be made more explicit. The sentence beginning “I would like to request that if…” also makes the relationship between the company’s funding and the proposed benefits difficult to follow. Use clearer transitions and make each paragraph’s main point explicit to strengthen cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “mobilization,” “soft tissue release,” “clinical settings,” and “accommodation.” These terms help communicate the course content and the practical support you need. There are also attempts at more formal expressions, such as “I am writing to ask permission” and “I look forward to hearing a positive response.” However, several spelling errors—“avertisement,” “manupulation,” “cartification,” and “eveyone”—reduce accuracy, while phrases such as “grant for this course” and “more facilities for patients” are not natural in context. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for funding, training, and workplace benefits to make your vocabulary more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The letter includes both simple statements and attempts at more complex structures, such as “Clients can receive more services under one roof that can give a better result…” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity and control. For example, “a two-day in next month” needs a correctly formed time expression, and “I would really grateful” is missing the verb “be.” The construction “I would like to request that if our company grant…” is also faulty; separate the request from its condition, for example, “I would like to ask whether the company could fund this course.” Review articles, verb forms, and sentence construction, while continuing to practise complex sentences.
