Student answer (Band 6.0)

Everyone wear clothes according to their choices, I partially believe that people's culture and their character can be judged by their choices of clothes. Although different communities represent their culture through their dressing sense, a person's character can be determined by their choices of clothes. The following paragraphs explain reasons and examples.

The main reason why it is possible to say a lot about individuals' culture from their choice of clothes is that every country shows their identity from their dressing styles. For example, Most Indians wear kurta which represents that they belong to Punjabi community. Moreover, in Pakistan most women cover their face with a piece of cloth called "BURKA". As a result, with such gestures people can sense other person's culture. Even some people try others' cultural clothes to explore their norms. This reduces racism and increase the understanding.

However, all people have different choices of clothes. It is not appropriate to judge someone based on their look. Although business peple wear sophisticated clotes when they attend meetings, when they are with their friends they prefer casual clothes. Their dresses change according to occassions. Consequently, their outfits tell about what kind of event they are going to attend, rather than explain their character. On the other hand, people's behaivour and their way of talking can reveal more about their character such as if younger adults know how to respect older poeple, they might have excellent character.

In conclusion, individuals' culture can be described on the basis of their way of dressing, whereas their character can be explained by their behaviour and their way of respect others . Hence, i partically agree with this viewpoint.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you partially agree, distinguishing between clothing as a clue to culture and behaviour as a better indicator of character. The examples of kurta and burka support the cultural point, while the contrast between business meetings and casual settings helps explain why outfits do not reliably reveal personality. This addresses both parts of the question. However, some claims need more careful development: the kurta example does not establish that it identifies someone specifically as Punjabi, and the point about trying other cultures’ clothes and reducing racism is introduced without explanation. To strengthen the response, qualify broad claims and explain how each example supports your position more precisely; this would make the ideas more consistently extended and convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph about cultural identity, a contrasting paragraph about character, and a conclusion that restates your position. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help signal the main stages of the argument. The progression is generally logical, but some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Even some people try others’ cultural clothes to explore their norms” shifts from identifying culture to reducing racism without showing the link. The sentence beginning “Although business peple…” also contains a contrast that is difficult to follow, and “On the other hand” does not clearly mark a new opposing point. Make these relationships explicit and use referencing more precisely to improve flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “dressing styles,” “identity,” “casual clothes,” and “character,” and you attempt more specific expressions such as “sophisticated clothes” and “cultural clothes.” However, word choice and collocation are often imprecise, which limits clarity: “their dressing sense” and “their way of respect others” are not natural expressions, while “sense other person’s culture” is awkward. Spelling errors such as “peple,” “clotes,” “occassions,” and “behaivour” are noticeable, and inconsistent capitalisation in “BURKA” distracts. Build accuracy by learning common collocations and checking spelling; for example, use “traditional clothing” and “infer someone’s cultural background” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “Although” and “when,” and the main argument is usually understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For instance, “Everyone wear” needs subject–verb agreement, and “every country shows their identity” has unclear agreement and reference. In “This reduces racism and increase the understanding,” the verbs do not agree, while “their way of respect others” is not a complete grammatical pattern. There are also punctuation problems, such as the missing space after “character.” and inconsistent capitalisation at the start of “i.” Review agreement and sentence boundaries, then proofread each sentence for complete, correctly connected clauses.
