Student answer (Band 6.5)

Our ancestors have believed that attires have a power to showcase one's background. I completely agree with this because it represents a cultural value and sense of respect in the society.

One most significant reason is that clothes depict your professionalism and value in the society. This is because dressing according to the has an ability to how much an individual is about certain occasions such a business meeting, party or funeral. Although, clothes have been in the trend all over the social media as a symbol of status, but that does not mean an expensive suit will earn you that poisition in the community. For example, many cultures has different style of outfits if one's are not wearing as per the event that person will not be taken seriously from that moment within the family member.

On the other hand, wearing a not properly ironed or washed clothes will lost a lot of respect and identity shift in the culture. This is because society has notion, where a person is not maintaining personal hygiene can leave detrimental effects only to a personal but to the family as well. For Instance, The United Kingdom press recently reported that due to not following general hygiene rules known as disrespecting fellow colleague will automatically loose their position in the company.

To conclude, one of the main why attire play a significant role in many places or countries, where clothes not only showcase status but helps to represent ones professionalism and value by styling in a certain way.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of how clothes reflect professionalism is vague, and the example regarding the UK press is not clearly linked to the argument about culture and character. While the main points are relevant, they lack depth and specific supporting evidence to fully explore the relationship between clothing and identity. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To improve, ensure that each paragraph provides a clear, well-explained example that directly supports the topic sentence.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the other hand' and 'To conclude', but they are sometimes used mechanically or incorrectly, such as the use of 'Although' at the start of a sentence followed by a comma splice. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between the 'UK press' example and the broader argument about culture is weak. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more cohesive to ensure a smoother flow of information.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'attires' is used incorrectly as a countable noun, and phrases like 'identity shift in the culture' and 'not maintaining personal hygiene can leave detrimental effects only to a personal' are awkward and imprecise. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary, the lack of precision and the presence of word-form errors suggest a limited range. More attention to collocations and standard usage would significantly improve the quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('many cultures has', 'clothes... will lost'), missing words ('dressing according to the [context]'), and incorrect sentence fragments or run-on sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors is high enough to cause some difficulty for the reader. To reach a higher band, the student needs to focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and ensuring that complex sentences are grammatically sound.
