Student answer (Band 6.5)

'Do not judge a book by it's cover' this state that people can not be judged by their clothes or appearance. Whereas, some individual believe that according to their choice of clothes people can know about the culture and character of that person. I strongly disagree with this statement and I will explain my views in ensuing paragraphs.

To begin with, choice of clothes would not define you as a person you are. Person choices are change according to the time. Clothes are the thing that anyone can choose, looks good and perfect for their body on the basis of that the person who you are would not be decided. For instance, doctor use to wear a white apron for their work this will not decide that the doctor is good, calm and humble person itself also people can not predict that which culture he belongs too.

Moreover, People are known by their behaviour, perception and motive of their life. This all includes the characteristic of particular person who define them different from others as person. When it comes to culture person can wear clothes according to that for religious intension also that will not explain how original as person are. For example, Muslim ladies wear hijab as their religious person however, it will not define that she is terrorist or a part of ICC group.

To conclude, it is not always necessary that person can identify by their look and appearance of clothes I think to know the person it is good if look from inside and outside how it is.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against the idea that clothes reveal character or culture. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The example regarding doctors is relevant but lacks depth, and the example concerning religious attire is slightly confusing in its phrasing and could be more sensitively articulated. While the main argument is consistent, the supporting points are somewhat repetitive and lack the nuance required for a higher band. The response covers all parts of the task, but the arguments could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher level of persuasion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'This all includes the characteristic of particular person who define them different from others'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the overall progression of ideas feels a bit disjointed at times due to the limited range of cohesive devices employed.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision expected at higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'religious intension' instead of 'religious intention' or 'original as person are'. The student relies on basic vocabulary and struggles to express more complex ideas with natural-sounding language. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and the presence of errors in word formation prevent a higher score. Expanding the use of topic-specific collocations would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('Person choices are change'), article usage ('doctor use to wear'), and punctuation errors ('it's' instead of 'its'). Some sentences are poorly constructed, such as 'it is not always necessary that person can identify by their look', which impedes clarity. While the errors do not completely prevent communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable and suggest a lack of control over more complex grammatical forms.
