Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether clothing reflects culture and character. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide examples like traditional Indian clothing and school uniforms, the analysis remains superficial. The essay would benefit from a more nuanced exploration of how 'character'—beyond just cultural identity—might be reflected in clothing choices (e.g., professional attire vs. casual wear). The position is clear, but the arguments are not fully extended, leading to a somewhat repetitive conclusion. To reach a higher band, ensure each paragraph provides a deeper explanation of the 'why' behind your examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'Furthermore,' and 'On the other hand' to signal transitions. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'at that time it can be difficult'). The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the connection between sentences could be smoother. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that pronouns clearly refer back to the intended nouns to improve the overall cohesion of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'traditional clothes,' 'marriage ceremony,' and 'equality.' However, there is a lack of flexibility and precision. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'cultural clothes' and 'traditional clothes,' which limits the sophistication of your writing. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'an crucial role' (should be 'a crucial role') and 'effect in studies' (should be 'affect'). Expanding your range of synonyms and collocations would significantly enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Every schools has,' 'everyone wear'), article misuse ('in individuals life'), and awkward phrasing ('it's become hard to choose individual's culture'). These errors are noticeable but do not consistently impede communication. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while ensuring accuracy will help you move toward a higher band.
