Student answer (Band 6.0)

squabbling on possibility of judging people identity from clothes is ubiqtious in day and age. ongoing debate exits where many a think , clothing defines people personality, however other do not think in a same manner. I personally believe that clothing does not define people identity. I fully disagree with provided notion, My viewpoints will be ventilated in upcoming paragraphs

commencing with reason behind my thoughts, the prominent reason is modern life style, where everyone is following the latest trends whether it is sikh, hindu ,muslim or chistian. It is hard to figure out the identity of any person. For instance, at almost every workplace everyone has to follow the uniform policies, whether its same code dress , hair style or accessories. There everyone is on same page, which I believe is a logical aspect.

Furthermore, another reason is the adavancement in tecnology and education. This is to say that, in comtemporary epoch, everyone is enough qualified and always tries to present him or herself in professional manner, which ultimately make its impossible to identify people culture and character.

In conlcusion, although every place is equiped with mix bag of people like diversity of people, in modern world its pretty hard to tell anyone character and culture from clothes.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against the idea that clothing defines character. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which limits the depth of the argument. While the ideas are relevant, they are under-developed. For instance, the argument regarding workplace uniforms is a good starting point, but it lacks sufficient elaboration to fully explore the relationship between culture and clothing. To improve, you should expand on your examples and provide more nuanced reasoning to meet the length requirement and demonstrate a more thorough exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of your argument. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore' and 'In conclusion' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and some mechanical transitions. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall structure feels a bit rushed due to the brevity of the response. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects back to your main thesis.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'ubiquitous', 'contemporary', and 'professional'. However, there are several spelling errors ('ubiqtious', 'adavancement', 'tecnology', 'conlcusion', 'equiped') and some awkward collocations ('squabbling on possibility', 'mix bag of people'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not fully impede communication. To improve, focus on proofreading for common spelling mistakes and try to use more precise vocabulary to express your ideas, ensuring that your word choices are natural and contextually appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('in day and age'), subject-verb agreement issues ('many a think', 'everyone is enough qualified'), and punctuation errors. These errors occur throughout the text and sometimes make the meaning slightly difficult to follow. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Increasing your accuracy in these fundamental areas will significantly improve the clarity and quality of your writing.
