Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is often agued that a person's choice of clothes can reveal their culture and character. I completely agree with this view for several reasons
This essay will discuss all the reasons along with my viewpoint.
One major reason why I agree with this view is that clothes reflect cultural background. This is because, traditional dresses are closely connected to a country's customs, region, and history. Moreover, some rituals also play important roles in the choice of clothes. For example, many Indians wear sarees or kurtas during festivals, while Japanese people wear kimonos on special occasions, which is showing their sentimental values towards history and tradition. Consequently, clothing can provide valuable information about person's cultural identity.
Another important reason is that, clothes can also indicate personality. To explain it more, people's dressing style often reflects their preferences, confidence and lifestyle. For instance, someone who wears neat and formal clothes regularly may appear disciplined and professional, whereas a person who wears colorful and creative clothes may seen artistic. As a result, clothing can give a general impression of a person's character, even though it may not always be completely accurate. In addition, some people who are in fashion industry are also very passionate about their work and people who watch their programs can also judge their nature and profession by clothes.
In conclusion, I firmly agree that a person's clothing can reveal important information about both their culture and character ,although it should not be the only basis for judging someone.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas regarding cultural identity and personality are relevant and supported by examples, such as the mention of sarees, kurtas, and kimonos. While the argument is logical, some points could be developed further to reach a higher band; for instance, the link between the fashion industry and character judgment is somewhat vague. Overall, the response is well-focused and provides a clear, consistent argument that directly answers the question.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Consequently', 'For instance', and 'In addition' are used effectively to link ideas. Paragraphing is appropriate, with each paragraph focusing on a central theme. However, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is slightly abrupt due to a missing sentence break. Despite this, the progression of ideas is clear throughout the text, and the use of referencing is generally accurate.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning with some precision. You use topic-specific terms like 'cultural identity', 'sentimental values', and 'disciplined and professional'. There are some minor errors, such as 'agued' (typo for 'argued') and 'may seen' (should be 'may seem'). While the range is adequate for the task, it lacks the more sophisticated, less common collocations that would elevate the score to an 8.0. Nevertheless, the vocabulary is used naturally and does not impede communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There is good control over basic grammar, but there are some recurring errors, such as missing articles ('in fashion industry' should be 'in the fashion industry') and punctuation issues (e.g., the comma placement in 'Another important reason is that, clothes...'). Additionally, there is a minor subject-verb agreement error with 'may seen'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede the reader's understanding of your argument. To improve, focus on article usage and refining complex sentence construction.
