Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is often argued by some people that it is easier to judge others by their choice of clothes. In today's well-known era, People always try different cultures and living style of each other which assist them to explore more and gain experience about new things. I Partially disagree with this statement which i will describe in the following paragraphs.

To initial with, current generation always seek for more experience regardless it's related to someone's living standard, culture or food. For instance, Today's youth try new clothing styles as compare to past such as in India Punjab, women used to wear only salwar suit in past instead of jeans or tops or any other fancy clothes. However, with the more interest in western culture people learned more about the choice of clothes and fashion which extremely changed the attitude of other culture or community to adapt new things.

Moreover, it is really difficult to judge a person's character based on their clothing style. Having a unique style does not make a person different from everyone else. They just feel more comfortable and wants to describe what kind of culture and style they prefer and love the most.

On the other hand, even though today's generation understands this properly, but some elder people still do not fully adapt new cultures. They often judge a person based on what they are wearing and how is their attitude regarding their community.

To conclude, not only it increases our knowledge but also assist us to learn more and how to respect other culture's. The statement is often used in our daily life that '' Never judge a book by covers''. We cannot define each other personalities on our clothing style.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have provided reasons for your disagreement, such as the difficulty of judging character and the influence of cultural exchange. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the paragraph regarding Indian culture is slightly tangential to the core argument about character judgment. To reach a higher band, ensure that every example directly supports your thesis statement. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and introduces new ideas about 'respecting culture' that were not fully integrated into the main body arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To initial with', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand' to link your thoughts. However, some of these transitions are slightly unnatural or contain errors, such as 'To initial with' instead of 'To begin with'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical rather than flexible, which limits the score in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, allowing you to express your opinions clearly. You use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'western culture', 'clothing style', and 'living standard'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'well-known era' and 'assist us to learn more and how to respect other culture's'. The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Expanding your use of collocations and idiomatic expressions would improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('current generation always seek', 'they just feel... and wants to describe') and article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, notably with the misuse of apostrophes and quotation marks. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy will significantly improve your writing.
