Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some individuals say that they can tell about someone's culture or personality from their attire. I partially agree with the statement.
There is a saying that, "Do not judge a book by its cover". It is fully true, we can not tell anything about someone character or lifestyle from their choice of clothing. Some people do not like to dress too much, they do not care about the society, they only think about their own comfort. For example, one of my friend, he never like to dress formal or wear office appropriate clothes, people think of him that he is not educated, but he is a senior manager in an international company.
On the other hand, it is good to dress according to the situation and environment. Clothes tell a lot about the character, if you are well dressed people will respect you and treat you the way you deserve.
I am not fully convinced with the statement. A person can not be always dressed but it is necessary to dress well to blend in the environment. If an individual has to attend a meeting, then they need to be in a formal attire, according to the demand of the environment in which they are working. In contrary, sometimes the choice of clothing tells about a person's character. If you do not wear good garments, you are not a intellectual person.
In conclusion, a piece of clothing is not a parameter to judge someone's character or culture but it is important to dress well.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by providing a personal opinion, but the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you present a position, the arguments are somewhat contradictory; for instance, you argue that clothing does not define character, yet later suggest that not wearing 'good garments' means one is not an 'intellectual person.' This lack of clarity in your stance makes the argument less persuasive. To improve, ensure your main points are consistent throughout the essay and provide more detailed, logical explanations for your claims rather than shifting your position mid-essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For example, the phrase 'In contrary' is used incorrectly to introduce a point. Additionally, the transition between the idea of comfort and the idea of professional dress is abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' 'nevertheless') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that flows logically from the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good' and 'dress,' and there are some awkward collocations, such as 'dress too much' and 'not a intellectual person.' To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'professional attire,' 'superficial judgment,' or 'socio-economic status.' Expanding your range of synonyms and focusing on correct word combinations will significantly enhance your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'one of my friend, he never like') and article usage. Some sentences are also run-on or lack proper punctuation, such as the comma splice in the first paragraph. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency. Increasing the use of error-free complex sentences will also help boost your score.
