Student answer (Band 7.5)
According to some people, people's outfit can convey others about their tradition and character. Although many individuals support the give statement, I completely disagree with it which will be discussed in the upcoming paragraphs.
To begin with skeptics' point of view, it is easier to predict someone's culture simply by observing their clothes because they are designed in a way by professional designers, which makes it obvious for others to make a decision regarding their ethnicity. To be more specific, in a group of people, a woman wearing authentic saree can be identified easily that she is Indian by strangers who are knowledgeable about typical Indian dress code. Similarly, those wearing western dresses can reveal their cultural roots without saying a word. However, this can be considered true and acceptable only during specific festival and wedding seasons when people actually dress up as per their respective traditions. But, in normal life, people usually wear casual clothes on daily basis, which makes it extremely challenging to decide their nationality.
Moreover, today's world has become a global village where cultural differences are hard to find as people from all around the world are prone to try each other's cultural aspects. For example, a lot of people from western countries have begun to celebrate Asian festivals by wearing their traditional dresses and by following their traditional rituals. Therefore, it becomes difficult for others to tell about a person's culture from their choice of clothes.
To conclude, although, it is convenient to judge people's culture based on their outfits during festival seasons, during normal routine, it is not because people from different continents are keen to experience other culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. You have provided relevant arguments regarding the limitations of judging character or culture based on clothing, specifically highlighting the influence of globalization and the distinction between formal/festive wear and daily attire. The ideas are well-developed, though the discussion on 'character' is somewhat overshadowed by the focus on 'culture'. To improve, ensure that both aspects of the prompt—culture and character—are explored with equal depth. Overall, the response is well-structured and directly answers the question, meeting the requirements for a Band 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You have used cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Similarly', 'However', and 'Moreover' to guide the reader through your arguments. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate distinct ideas. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions could be more sophisticated to move beyond mechanical usage. For instance, the link between the second and third paragraphs could be strengthened to create a more cohesive narrative. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with some precision, using terms like 'authentic', 'ethnicity', and 'global village'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'convey others' (should be 'convey to others') and 'give statement' (should be 'given statement'). While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the range is somewhat limited, and there is occasional repetition of basic terms. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and varied synonyms to express your ideas with greater sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. You show good control over basic grammar, and your meaning is always clear. However, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'can be identified easily that she is Indian' (awkward phrasing) and 'other culture' (should be 'other cultures'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article errors throughout. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching the higher bands where error-free complex sentences are more frequent. Increasing your use of varied, error-free complex structures will improve your score.
