Student answer (Band 6.5)
In this contemporary era, dressing sense is the basic thing that people notice about a person. Most of the people dress in the way they feel confident. Also, some people believe that it is easy to judge a person's character and culture from their dressing. I partially agree with this view.
People loves to represent their roots and culture from their clothes. For instance, many people in Haryana, India use to wear dhoti ( a cloth worn by men on bottom similar to pants). This is because they feel proud wearing that dress and it is part of their culture. Moreover, even when they go to city where most of the people are now modern, they still wear these clothes to encourage their youth and makes them connected to the roots. Due to all this it is very easy to tell a lot about person's culture from clothes.
On the other hand, I somewhere disagree with this view. The primary reason is that in this generation person changes their style of wearing clothes on daily basis. For illustration, a person wears a uniform at their school time, after that same person was wearing a casual dress when at home and same person will be wearing a fancy jeans pants and jacket on weekends when going to club. So it is also quite difficult to judge a person' culture from clothes.
To conclude this topic, I would say that it depends from person to person how they dress up because few represents their roots and culture from their clothing and some people wore clothes depending on their mood and occasion. As we know never judge a book by its cover, similarly we should not judge a person from their clothes.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that is partially in agreement. The ideas are relevant, such as the example of traditional Indian clothing and the counter-argument regarding situational attire. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. The explanation of why clothing reflects culture is clear, but the counter-argument could be more deeply explored to reach a higher band. The conclusion effectively summarizes the position, though it relies on a cliché. Overall, the response is well-focused and maintains a consistent stance throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'For instance', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the use of referencing could be more sophisticated. For example, the phrase 'Due to all this' is a bit simplistic. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. The progression of ideas is generally smooth, though the connection between sentences could be refined for better flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'contemporary era', 'modern', and 'casual dress'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'dressing sense' (which is often used in South Asian English but less standard in international contexts) and 'fancy jeans pants'. The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Spelling is generally accurate, but the overall lexical range is somewhat limited.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'People loves', 'a person changes their style', 'at their school time'). There are also issues with tense consistency, such as 'same person was wearing' instead of 'is wearing'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. A greater variety of error-free complex structures would be needed to achieve a higher score.
