Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people say a person's character and culture can be demonstrated through their choice of clothes. I partially agree with this statement as choice of clothes can tell a lot about a person but other factors such as etiquettes, way of communication also matters.
To initiate, an individual's personality and character can be judged by what he or she wears especially for females. For example, if a girl wears short clothes at a house party that means she belongs to modern culture. Moreover, if she wears too short dresses that reveals her character as no culture allows to wear revealing clothes in front of elders as wearing decent clothes shows respect for them.
On the other hand, sometimes a person can wear decent clothes or looks innocent but still be mean and rude to others. Moreover, the way of communication also matters as people can wear good clothes, but they don't know how to talk politely and calmly with elders, and they don't have basic manners as how to behave properly. For instance, me and my friend was at a party there was a girl who looks so innocent and wears decent clothes always does not matter what the occasion is and at party she is misbehaving with her grandmother as she accidentally damages her birthday cake.
To summarize, we can say that it's possible to tell a lot about person character and culture by what they wear but other factors such as way of communication and etiquettes cannot be ignored.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position and providing reasons. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and relies on subjective, potentially controversial generalizations, particularly regarding gender and clothing. The example provided in the second paragraph is underdeveloped and lacks nuance. While the prompt is addressed, the arguments could be more sophisticated and balanced to reach a higher band. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, but the overall depth of the response remains at a basic level, focusing on personal anecdotes rather than broader societal analysis.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'To summarize' are used to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved. For instance, the transition between the discussion of clothing and the discussion of manners is a bit abrupt. Overall, the structure is coherent, but the flow between sentences could be more natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. Phrases like 'short clothes', 'too short dresses', and 'good clothes' are repetitive and simplistic. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'etiquettes' and 'misbehaving', the word choice is often basic. There are also some minor collocation issues, such as 'way of communication' instead of 'communication style' or 'manner of speaking'. To improve, the student should aim for a wider range of descriptive adjectives and more sophisticated synonyms to express their ideas with greater clarity and impact.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('etiquettes... matters'), incorrect article usage ('the way of communication'), and tense inconsistencies ('me and my friend was at a party'). Additionally, there are punctuation errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'always does not matter what the occasion is'. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to proofreading and sentence construction is needed.
