Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against the idea that clothes reveal character. However, the development of ideas is limited and the essay is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence. The word count is below the 250-word minimum, which negatively impacts the depth of the argument. While the ideas regarding behavior and achievements are relevant, they are not fully explored or linked back to the prompt's core theme of clothing effectively. The conclusion is unfinished, which prevents a full summary of the argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay uses basic paragraphing and some linking words like 'Moreover' and 'Furthermore' to organize ideas. However, the progression is hindered by the incomplete nature of the final paragraph. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the logical flow between the introduction and the body paragraphs is mechanical. The lack of a completed conclusion significantly disrupts the overall coherence of the piece, making it difficult for the reader to follow the final synthesis of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'contemparory', 'Individauls', 'coropate', and 'soical'. The student relies on basic vocabulary and struggles with collocations, such as 'tremendous things' or 'wellfare activity'. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequent spelling mistakes and limited range of vocabulary prevent a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'I am totally disagres', 'there are myriad of included', and 'sport person and film actors know for their work'. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to cause difficulty for the reader and demonstrate a lack of control over complex sentence forms.
