Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the modern era, people judge individuals from their living standard. It is often argued that people observed about other's culture and character by their dressing sense. I completely agree that clothing choice plays a significant role in life for several compelling reasons.

This primary reason why i hold his view is that people became very judgmental and selfish nowadays. This is largely because citizens gave respect to those who looks well dressed because they think that only upper section of society can wear branded clothes. Additionally, local sellers took advantage of these things as they charge more prices by observing dresses of individuals. For instance, sellers notice the customer by their living standards and they are aware that rich section of society don't waste their time in bargaining.

Another important factor to consider is that if someone is traveling out from the country traditional clothes helps them to represent their culture. This is because every culture have there own identity and clothing preferences. For example, in Punjab, if local noticed that foreigners visit their city and they needs any help. Locals are always consider them as their guests and willing to help them and instruct them about the rules and regulation of the area. This is very helpful for people as they are not much aware about the area and local language.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that it is beneficial for society for several reasons that they observe people by their clothes which represent culture. Therefore, people can enjoy diversity in their city.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The first body paragraph focuses on the negative aspects of being judgmental, which is only tangentially related to the core question of whether clothes reveal character. The second paragraph regarding traditional clothing is more relevant but lacks depth in explaining how this reveals 'character' as opposed to just 'culture'. While the ideas are relevant, they are not fully extended, and the argument could be more focused on the link between external appearance and internal personality traits to better satisfy the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Additionally', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'This primary reason why i hold his view'. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the second paragraph where the link between 'local sellers' and the main argument about character is tenuous. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the logical flow between sentences could be smoother to achieve a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'people', 'clothes', and 'culture'. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary ('living standard', 'diversity', 'traditional clothes'), there are errors in collocation and word choice, such as 'dressing sense' (which is informal) and 'rich section of society' (which is slightly unnatural). The range is sufficient to communicate the main points, but the lack of sophisticated or idiomatic language limits the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('every culture have there own identity', 'locals are always consider them'), incorrect pronoun usage ('his view' instead of 'this view'), and tense inconsistencies ('people became very judgmental'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy is necessary.
