Student answer (Band 5.5)

It has been observed that some individuals believe that they can tell a lot about a person's culture and character based on that person's choice of clothes. I strongly disagree with this statement because the choice of clothes does not provide enough information to say too much about anyone's character. My inclination is justified in the ensuing paragraph with valid reasons and appropriate examples.

First argument put forward for my stance is that an individual's character is not reliant on their choice of clothes. It considers some other information too such as their nature, perspectives, point of views, thinking etc. People can get general idea about person's culture, can not talk a lot about it.A Choice of outfits is merely express person's preference nothing more than that. For instance, someone who prefers to wear modren outfits might be follow tradition in other preferences. It is totally diniable that choice of clothes is enough to judge anyone's character.

Furthermore, There are several cultures in the world. Diverse countrys like India contains numerous cultures, in it. Each culture has their own tradition or own traditional dresses and outfits. Nowadays people have been fascinated by wearing other culture's outfits like on special occasions or on special events. For example, on navratri a famouse festival of Gujrat state. Other state's people enjoy it by wearing gujrati traditional dresses like chaniya choli. Outfit is just choice. Everyone can wear what they want, there is no restrictions to wear other culture's costumes. It is not realible to say a lot about person's culture by thire clothes.

To conclude, choice of clothes is not enough information to discuss person's character or culture. Choice of outfits is just prefrence of particular person. I do not agree with that choice of cloths can express anyone's character or the culture. People can guess the culture but only in case of culture. totally deny in regards of character.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide examples, such as the mention of Navratri, the explanation of why clothing does not reflect character remains a bit repetitive. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'why' behind your arguments—for instance, discussing how personality is shaped by upbringing or environment rather than just stating that clothing is a 'preference'. The conclusion is a bit disjointed, as it repeats the prompt's themes without adding a final, insightful summary of your stance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'To conclude' to link sections. However, the flow within paragraphs is occasionally hindered by mechanical phrasing and some awkward transitions, such as 'First argument put forward for my stance is that...'. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, and the use of punctuation—specifically the spacing and capitalization after periods—needs improvement to ensure the text flows smoothly for the reader.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your opinion clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'traditional dresses' and 'preferences'. However, there are several spelling errors (e.g., 'modren', 'diniable', 'realible', 'thire', 'cloths') and some word choice inaccuracies, such as 'It is totally diniable' instead of 'It is undeniable'. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure you proofread for common spelling mistakes, which currently limit the range and accuracy of your lexical expression.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in article usage (e.g., 'a person's culture', 'a famouse festival'), subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Diverse countrys like India contains'), and sentence fragments. Some sentences are grammatically incomplete or awkward, such as 'People can get general idea about person's culture, can not talk a lot about it.' While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to suggest a lack of control over more complex grammatical forms.
