Student answer (Band 7.0)
Some people believe that a person's choices of clothes can reveal a more about their culture and character. I partly agree with this statement because clothes can show a person's cultural background and personal preferences, but they cannot completely describe someone's personality.
On the one hand, clothing can provide useful information about a person's culture. People from different countries and communities often have their own traditional clothes, which are commonly worn during festivals, weddings, parties ,and other special occasions. For example, in Srilanka, many women wear sarees at weddings and cultural events. Similarly, people in many Asian countries wear traditional clothes during important cultural celebrations. Therefore, a person's clothing can sometimes give us a clear idea about their cultural backgrounds and traditions.
On the other hand, I do not think clothes can accurately show someone's character. People choose their clothes for many different reasons, including comfort, weather, fashion, and workplace requirements. For instance, a person may wear formal clothes at work because their company requires it, even though they prefer casual clothes in their free time. In addition, some one who wears expensive or fashionable clothe may not necessarily be friendly or successful. Their character can only be understood through their behavior and the way they treat other people.
In my opinion, clothes can give us some clues about a person's culture and preferences., but they are not enough to judge their character. We should spend time with people and observe their behavior before forming an opinion about them.
In conclusion, although clothing can reflect cultural traditions and personal choices, it cannot completely reveal a person's character. Therefore, I partly, agree with the statement.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that is maintained throughout. You effectively distinguish between the influence of culture on clothing and the limitations of clothing in revealing character. The ideas are relevant and supported by examples, such as the mention of sarees in Sri Lanka. To reach a higher band, you could further develop the 'character' argument by exploring why people might use clothing as a mask or a social signal, which would add more depth to your analysis. Overall, the response is well-focused and directly answers the question asked.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The use of cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In addition' helps guide the reader through your arguments. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. However, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing is always precise. Some transitions feel slightly mechanical, but the overall progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'cultural background,' 'personal preferences,' and 'workplace requirements' correctly. There are some minor errors, such as 'some one' (someone) and 'fashionable clothe' (clothes), but these do not impede communication. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and less common lexical items to show greater flexibility. For instance, instead of 'give us a clear idea,' you could use 'provide significant insight into.' The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly and effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While there are some grammatical errors, such as the unnecessary comma in 'partly, agree' and the spacing issue in 'some one,' the majority of your sentences are error-free and clear. You demonstrate good control over basic grammar, and your complex sentences, such as 'Although clothing can reflect cultural traditions and personal choices, it cannot completely reveal a person's character,' are well-constructed. To achieve a higher score, ensure more consistent proofreading to eliminate minor punctuation and spacing slips.
