Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is widely acknowledged that culture and character of individuals' can be identified by the way they dress. While I agree with this view as it can tell a lot about their culture, I also believe that there are also other factors which needs to be considered while assuming their background.
On the one hand, millions of individuals worldwide are of the view that dressing style can help people to identify their character. In some countries people usually wear their traditional clothes, which can help other tourists identify which part of the world they are from. For instance, many professionals can be identified by their dress . Similarly, person wearing kurtas are mostly associated to Indian or south Asian culture as it is traditional wear for them. Therefore, clothes reveal some clues not only about their culture but also about lifestyle.
On the other hand, clothes are not the only factor depending on which we judge their character because it only tells about their personal style. Many persons in the world wearing expensive classy clothes and trying to showcase that they are rich, while a number of rich people wear simple clothes. To illustrate, nowadays it is convenient to find first copies of branded clothes at a reasonable price, which can be affordable by lower class people. Therefore, individual should not be judged by observing their dressing sense.
To sum up, although dressing style can help people identify about people's culture at certain point, I believe that other measures should also be taken into the consideration before judging someone's character because we might end up judging them wrong.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that acknowledges the link between clothing and culture while cautioning against judging character solely on appearance. The ideas are relevant and supported by examples, such as the mention of traditional attire and the prevalence of affordable 'first copies' of branded goods. However, the development is somewhat limited; the discussion on character could be more deeply explored to reach a higher band. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarises the main points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Similarly', 'To illustrate', and 'To sum up' are used effectively to guide the reader. Paragraphing is appropriate, with each paragraph focusing on a distinct aspect of the argument. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions between sentences could be more sophisticated to improve the overall cohesion, as some connections feel slightly mechanical.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task. The student uses some topic-specific terms like 'traditional clothes', 'professional', and 'branded clothes'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'depending on which we judge' and 'at certain point'. The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, the student should focus on using more academic collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('factors which needs to be considered', 'individual should not be judged') and minor punctuation or article errors ('person wearing kurtas', 'at certain point'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. The student should focus on proofreading for basic agreement and article usage to improve accuracy.
