Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people believe that we can learn a lot about a person's culture and character from clothes they wear.I partly agree with this idea because clothes can give us some information about a person, but cannot reveal everything about person life.
primarily, clothes can represent a person's culture and traditions. For example, people in India often wear traditional clothes such as
sarees ,suits and kurta during weddings and festivals. This can give other an idea about their cultural background. Therefore, some people prefer to wear dark fashionable clothes clothes rather than wearing simple clothes which they find more comfortable and attractive.
However, I do not think we can judge someone's character only by their clothes. People buy clothes due to many reasons. Such as, a person may wear formal clothes everyday because they are required at work, even though they prefer to casual clothes in their free time. Additionally, weather ,comfort, price and current fashion style also influence what people wear in their daily life. As result, judging someone's personality based only on their appearance can sometimes be unfair.
In conclusion, I believe that clothes can give us some information about person about their background but they do not tell whole story. To understand someone's real character, we should look at their behaviour, attitude and the way they treat people rather than creating assumption by their clothes.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by providing a clear position and supporting arguments. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum requirement, which limits the depth of development. While the points regarding cultural expression and external factors like weather or work requirements are relevant, they are somewhat brief. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your examples and provide more nuanced analysis. For instance, you could discuss how modern globalized fashion trends might blur the lines between cultural identity and personal preference. The under-length nature of the response significantly impacts the overall task achievement score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'primarily', 'however', 'additionally', and 'in conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the flow between some sentences is slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'give other an idea' (should be 'others') and 'as result' (missing 'a'). The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the limited length prevents a more sophisticated development of cohesive links between paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on common terms like 'clothes', 'people', and 'information'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'person life' instead of 'a person's life' and 'creating assumption' instead of 'making assumptions'. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to sociology or fashion, such as 'attire', 'garments', 'socio-economic status', or 'superficial judgment'. The current range is sufficient for communication but does not demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, including missing articles ('the clothes', 'a person's life'), punctuation issues, and minor syntax errors like 'prefer to casual clothes' (should be 'prefer casual clothes'). These errors do not impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct usage of articles and prepositions. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures would also help demonstrate better grammatical control.
