Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 141 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the student attempts to address the prompt by stating an agreement, the arguments provided are underdeveloped and lack sufficient depth or supporting evidence. The essay is too brief to fully explore the relationship between clothing, culture, and character, resulting in a fragmented response that does not adequately fulfill the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. While there are attempts at paragraphing, the transitions between ideas are mechanical and often confusing. The use of cohesive devices is very limited, and the logical progression of arguments is hindered by the brevity of the text. The sentences are often disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of the argument. Improved use of linking words and a more logical paragraph structure are necessary to improve coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to express complex ideas. There are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'aggre', 'becaug e', 'choise', and 'coloure'. These errors, combined with the limited range of vocabulary, restrict the student's ability to convey meaning effectively. To improve, the student should focus on expanding their range of topic-specific vocabulary and practicing the correct spelling of common words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentence structures. There are frequent errors in punctuation, capitalization, and subject-verb agreement, such as 'every culture have a different dresses' and 'it showes their'. These errors are persistent and occasionally impede the clarity of the message. The student needs to work on basic sentence construction, punctuation rules, and ensuring subject-verb agreement to improve the accuracy and readability of their writing.
