Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is indeed true that person represent their country through clothing style. Certain people believe that a individual's attire provide a much information about their personality and culture. I strongly agree to this statement. My opinion will be justified in in the following paragraphs.

Discussing my opinion the foremost one I shall put forward is that different cultures have different outfits. These attires represent the culture identity of people according to their region. For instance, South indian men traditionally wear a dhoti and shirt, which are considered part of their culture identity. Therefore, through their traditional outfits, people can often identify their cultural background.

Additionally, clothing styles vary depending on the occasion in India. For an example, people usually wear formal clothes when attending a business meeting or a corporate event. While as for wedding ceremonies, people often prefer to wear traditional costume such as, men wear dhoti and kurta and femal wear saree. Therefore, appropriate clothing can enhance a person's appearance and reflect their personality.

On the other hand, me some people may believe that person's choice of clothing does not necessarily reflet reflect their culture. Firstly they argue that clothing is

primarily a matter of personal preference rather than an indicator of cultural identity. For instance, a person from india may choose to wear western style clothing, regardless of their cultural background.

All in all it can be said that a person's clothing style can provide insights into their traditional background as well as personality. Many people can represent their culture through traditional wears in various competitions. Therefore, I believe that a person's style of dressing can often give us an idea about their culture and personality.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position and providing relevant examples. You successfully discuss both the cultural significance of clothing and the counter-argument regarding personal preference. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the paragraph regarding personal preference is quite brief and could have been expanded with more depth. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored with more detailed analysis rather than just listing examples. Overall, the response is relevant and maintains a consistent stance throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'On the other hand', and 'All in all' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. There are also minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the awkward phrasing in the introduction ('Discussing my opinion the foremost one I shall put forward is...'). Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'traditional', 'corporate', and 'identity'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'person represent' (should be 'people represent'), 'a individual's' (should be 'an individual's'), and 'reflet' (reflect). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, focus on mastering basic collocations and proofreading for common spelling errors to ensure your message is communicated clearly without distraction.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('a individual's attire provide') and article usage. Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'While as for wedding ceremonies'. While you attempt complex structures, they are often marred by these persistent errors. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that your complex sentences are constructed accurately. Reducing the frequency of these basic errors will significantly improve your score.
