Student answer (Band 6.0)

A growing number of people believe that it would be easy to tell about someone's culture from their choice of attire. I partially agree with the given statement, as a number of individuals are wearing their traditional clothes in order to showcase their history, culture and identity, whereas, adoption of western dressing culture is quite common in today's time, therefore, every situation, it would be not possible.

On the one hand, nowadays, a plenty of people display their interest to wear traditional garments for their comfort and stay connected with their roots. For example, Indian women always seen in sarees, which is one type of cultural attire in order to showcase their devotion and respect towards their tradition and sense of belongingness. Also, most of clothes are made out of cotton material, therefore, it would be comfort for them to carry it during working hours, which also mitigate the chances of skin problems. Apart from that, during social events and family gathering, they put more emphasis on styling their ethnic dress, prepare authentic food and enjoy memorable moments with their family and friends.

On the other hand, adapting new clothing trend is a part of modern lifestyle. As a numerous organisations encourage their employees to dress-up in formal and classic clothes in order to maintain professionalism and discipline at work place. Other mankind prioritize convenience and budget over other things, hence, they are keen to wear jeans, t-shirts or shirts on their daily basis at home or when they are outdoor. Therefore, day by day, people paying less attention to heritage garments, as their love to being a trendy and want to update their cupboard with stylish clothes.

Inconclusion, a large number of Indian individuals are recognized by their ethnic dress, which display their culture and character. However, young generations are interested to follow current fashion trends and wear unique and comfortable clothes as per their needs.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all parts of the prompt by providing a clear position and supporting it with relevant examples. You successfully balanced the argument by discussing both the role of traditional attire in cultural identity and the influence of modern professional and convenience-based clothing trends. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, though some points, such as the mention of skin problems related to cotton, are slightly tangential to the core topic of culture and character. To reach a higher band, ensure that every supporting detail directly reinforces your central argument about how clothing reflects personality or cultural background.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use transition signals such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader through your argument. However, some cohesive devices are used mechanically or slightly inaccurately, such as 'therefore, every situation, it would be not possible,' which disrupts the flow. Additionally, some referencing is a bit repetitive. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that sentences connect more fluidly would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'attire,' 'traditional garments,' 'professionalism,' and 'heritage.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'a plenty of people,' 'other mankind,' and 'on their daily basis.' These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your expression. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more natural phrasing for everyday expressions rather than literal translations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive step. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with article usage ('the' missing before 'modern lifestyle'), subject-verb agreement ('Indian women always seen'), and sentence construction ('every situation, it would be not possible'). While these errors are noticeable, they rarely prevent the reader from understanding your intended meaning. To achieve a higher score, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed with correct verb forms and prepositions.
