Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this modern era, people become open minded and advanced. some people state that it is possible to judge an individual's character and culture with their dressing sense. I completely disagree with the statement that a piece of cloth does not shows any person's background and character.

First of all, nowadays the lifestyle of people has changed sophistically. people become advanced and modern with the time due to which it is not possible to judge a person's character with their choice of clothing. Second, people gets impressed with fashion and trends and some people like to follow trending outfits. For example, If a Hindu or Muslim girl is wearing shorts of frocks it does not mean that she do not belong to Hindu or Muslim culture or she is not of a good character.

Third, technology has increased instantly that social media attached people to disome people gets fascinated by others' cultures and their outfits due to which they adapt themselves according to their choice of clothing.

I completely disagree with the statement because choice of clothing can not define any persons' culture and background. In my own experience, my friend loves Muslims' language and their culture and even follow their trending outfits. she also love Korean dressing sense and do wear shorts and frocks which can not define her character and culture.

In conclusion, technology and social media's power has changed individuals' thinking due to which people gets advanced and upgraded with the time. It is not possible to tell about a person's nature and character with their choice of clothing.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed the prompt and maintained a clear position throughout the essay. You provided relevant reasons and personal examples to support your argument. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the third paragraph and the conclusion, where the same points about technology and social media are restated without adding new depth. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-developed point rather than circling back to the same general concepts. The response is coherent in its stance, but the supporting arguments could be more varied and analytical to demonstrate a deeper exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Second', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the use of these devices is somewhat mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, such as in the third paragraph where the sentence structure becomes fragmented ('technology has increased instantly that social media attached people to disome people...'). Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'sophistically', 'fascinated', and 'open minded'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'dressing sense' (better as 'style of dress'), 'piece of cloth' (should be 'clothing' or 'garments'), and 'technology has increased instantly'. Some of these errors occasionally make the meaning slightly less precise. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more natural phrasing for everyday topics. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher band scores.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('people gets', 'she do not', 'she also love'), incorrect verb forms ('does not shows'), and punctuation errors. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent and occur in both simple and complex sentences. To improve, pay closer attention to basic subject-verb agreement rules and ensure that your verb tenses are consistent. Increasing your control over these fundamental structures will significantly improve the clarity and professional quality of your writing.
