Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's contemporary world people are being analyzed by their way of living and how they represent themselves in front of others. I completely agree with the statement and this essay will examine the main reasons.

To commence with, wearing proper dress and being groomed all the time reflects a sense of humor. Being presentable around others shows the confidence they carry rather than just being available when needed. As a result, people respect them and appreciate. For instance, in any organization, management always encourage those who know how to present themselves in front of client to save reputation of the company which is always a first priority. Additional, parenting plays a vital role, some parents teach their kids from the beginning regarding the dress sense. and what to wear when. Every occasion deserves different styles.

Although some people like to be simple and natural, they maintain standards. They way a person dress also shows the maturity level. Let it be school, university, or office, some people are aware about the ethics. Not only this but also it shows the sincerity towards culture. Moreover, in today's era people lean more towards western life style which is not detrimental, however wearing something that does not reveal the body is kind of respect towards their culture. For example, In India, festivals are celebrated so well and everyone looks so enthuastic, especially girls, they dress up and present their own culture.

To conclude this essay, I would comment that choice of clots reveals a lot about person's nature, sense of humor, maturity level because they understand the value of being presentable which in turn allows them to face the world with confidence.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as the link between clothing and professional reputation or cultural identity. However, some points are under-developed. For example, the claim that dress sense reflects a 'sense of humor' is not clearly explained or linked to the prompt. The argument regarding parenting is also somewhat disconnected from the main thesis. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that every supporting point directly reinforces your stance on how clothing reveals character or culture, providing more specific, logical explanations for these connections.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices like 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude this essay'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the logical progression is slightly disjointed, such as the transition between professional dress and parenting. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as the phrase 'some people are aware about the ethics', which lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some relevant topic-specific terms like 'presentable', 'contemporary', and 'detrimental'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'sense of humor' (likely meant 'sense of decorum' or 'professionalism') and 'choice of clots' (spelling error). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, and you rely on basic phrasing in several places. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring accurate spelling of key terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('in front of client'), incorrect preposition usage, and subject-verb agreement issues ('management always encourage'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with sentence fragments like 'And what to wear when.' and the misuse of periods. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency and accuracy of the writing.
