Student answer (Band 6.0)
Clothes are considered as a reflection of a person's identity. Some individuals believe that selection of outfits tells a lot about their tradition and personality. I completely agree with this view as garments act as a visual expression of one's cultural heritage while also reflecting personal traits and individuality.
To begin with, clothing serves as a primary indicator of a person's cultural background and heritage. Traditional attire such as an Indian saree visibly symbolize a person's specific roots, geographic history, and ethnic identity. Consequently, fashion acts as an unspoken language that instantly communicates an individual's origin and cultural pride to the world.
''Apart from cultural background a person's wardrobe choices also serve as a direct reflection of their individual character and psychological traits. For instance, people who dress meticulously often care deeply about first impression and societal standards, whereas those with causal styles may prioritize comfort over external judgement. Moreover, extroverts often lean towards bright , bold outfits, while introverted individuals may prefer understated, neutral tones. Apart from that, the clothes people pick can calibrate their confidence, mood and cognitive readiness for the day. furthermore, assuming someone's inner worth, morality or true character based strictly on fabric, style or brand can lead to unfair biases.
In conclusion, clothes serves as a powerful mirror of identity.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position and providing relevant arguments regarding cultural heritage and personal traits. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which limits the depth of development. While the points about traditional attire and psychological traits are relevant, they are not fully extended with sufficient examples or analysis to meet the requirements of higher bands. The conclusion is also abrupt and underdeveloped. To improve, you must expand your arguments with more detailed explanations and ensure you meet the minimum word count to allow for a comprehensive discussion of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a logical progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Consequently', and 'Moreover' to link your points effectively. Paragraphing is present, although the final paragraph is underdeveloped. The flow of ideas is generally clear, and the relationship between the cultural argument and the personality argument is well-managed. To reach a higher band, ensure that your conclusion is more substantial and that you maintain a consistent level of development across all paragraphs, avoiding the abrupt ending seen here.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary, using terms like 'meticulously', 'understated', 'cognitive readiness', and 'cultural heritage' appropriately. There are some minor issues, such as 'causal' instead of 'casual' and 'symbolize' (should be 'symbolizes' to agree with 'attire'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the consistent precision and sophisticated collocation required for higher bands. Expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary and ensuring accurate word forms will help improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'clothes serves' (should be 'clothes serve') and 'symbolize' (should be 'symbolizes'). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are minor issues with spacing and capitalization, such as 'bright , bold'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading. To achieve a higher score, aim for a greater variety of complex structures and ensure subject-verb agreement is consistently accurate.
