Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is stated that people's culture and personality could reflects from the way they dress themselves. I personally strongly agree with this notion because choice of clothes say a lot about individual's native traditions which they follow and also how disciplined and oriented they are. I intend to discuss this viewpoints in these following paragraphs.

In the first place, One major thing that reflects from people's clothes is their traditions. To illustrate it, as everyone knows, attire of different countries vary from each other. This differences show what they follow as a tradition and culture in their native places. For instance, in India, it is very obvious for women to wear Sarees and Chania Cholis on a daily basis. Any one can understand that they are Indian from this typical attire they traditionally follow since decades. Therefore, particular dressing style can provides general idea of culture of that place and people.

Furthermore, another quality that reflects from the choice of dresses is discipline and orientation of individuals. To elaborate it, people choose ironed and neat clothes if they are professionally involved and it reflects their dedication towards their jobs. For illustration, Doctors usually wear proper clean, neat and strongly ironed clothes at their hospital which shows their discipline and orientation towards their professional values. Moreover, if they do not wear appropriate dress then it might creates negative impression on their patients. As a result, they could be judged for their clinical work as well.

To summarize the above narratives, I personally strongly believe that clothes can tell so many things like how much people are dedicated and disciplined for their job and also define traditional and cultural character of individuals.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed the prompt clearly and maintained a consistent position throughout the essay. The ideas regarding cultural identity and professional discipline are relevant and supported by examples, such as the mention of Indian attire and the professional appearance of doctors. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are more fully developed; for instance, you could explore the nuance of how personal character might be reflected in casual clothing choices, rather than focusing solely on professional settings. Overall, the response is well-focused and directly answers the question.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'In the first place,' 'Furthermore,' and 'To summarize' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition from discussing cultural traditions to professional discipline is abrupt. Improving the use of referencing and ensuring that each paragraph has a strong, unified theme will help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'native traditions,' 'professional values,' and 'clinical work.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'could reflects' instead of 'could be reflected' and 'this differences' instead of 'these differences.' To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that your word forms are consistent. The current range is sufficient to convey your meaning, but lacks the sophistication and flexibility required for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('clothes say' vs 'individual's... say'), incorrect verb forms ('could reflects'), and article usage errors ('the culture of that place'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of plural/singular forms. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will also help elevate your score.
