Student answer (Band 5.5)

Thesedays, Due to modern era , majority of people have started following western culture. A few individual says that we can easily describe people's culture and their character by their sense of clothes. I disagree to a huge extent with the above notion, and i would like to talk about reasons behind this statement.

Taking into account with disagreement side, the first and foremost is that many people like to wear different culture's ornament and clothes but that does not mean that they are from different culture. For instance, because of modern era, people use social media such as Instagram which is best example for this statement , so people from south India, create a reel on something , and by this, it has become trend on Instagram , so every corner of people wear saree which is usually worn by south Indian women , and they create a reel. Therefore, that does not mean that they are form south India.

On other hand, We can easily recognize people by their sense of dressing. For example, Punjabi community people like to wear full pajama and suit whereas Gujarati people like to wear other kind of suit.

Also, whenever we go somewhere , and at that moment we see someone who wear these kind of clothes , we easily recognize who are they and where do they come form. Another is that in India, we mostly do not prefer to sleeves less clothes and our myth is that having full sleeves recognize our culture and traditional. Hence, it is proved that dressing sense is key point.

To Conclude, every coin has two sides. It is true that we can recognize people by their choice but sometimes we are proved wrong.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt but lacks a clear, consistent position. You state you disagree in the introduction, but the second body paragraph argues the opposite, suggesting that clothing is indeed a key indicator of culture. This contradiction makes your overall stance confusing. While you provide examples, such as the social media trend of wearing sarees, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. To improve, ensure your main arguments align with your thesis statement throughout the essay. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not effectively synthesize the conflicting points raised in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is hindered by the contradictory arguments between the two body paragraphs. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'Taking into account with disagreement side' and 'Another is that'. Some transitions feel forced, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, which disrupts the flow of your argument. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph builds logically upon the previous one to support a single, unified position.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing and repetitive structures, such as 'people' and 'clothes'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, for example, 'different culture's ornament' and 'myth is that having full sleeves recognize our culture'. These errors occasionally make the meaning slightly opaque. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and collocations related to the topic of culture and identity, and pay closer attention to word forms and pluralization.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('A few individual says'), incorrect article usage, and awkward phrasing ('every corner of people wear saree'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors prevents the text from being error-free. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement and pluralization will significantly improve your score.
