Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people opine that a person’s choice of clothing can reveal a great deal about their cultural background and personality. I would partly agree with this view.
There is a reason why people think that we can get to know about someone by observing their clothes as choice of clothes has a lot to do with someone’s personality and culture. In other words, people choose what they want to wear; for instance, if someone is wearing a quite fashionable outfit it represents that they have a good sense of fashion. Moreover, wearing traditional clothes also reflects the culture of that person as each and every culture has their own traditional clothes. To illustrate, if I see someone wearing a salwar suit , an indian traditional dress,I would definitely think that they are from India. To add up, everyone every culture i different from other as most of the white people like to wear short clothes whereas most of the asian countries do not like revealing clothes.
On the other hand, I think it cannot be always right that we can always know one’s cultural background by their clothes as sometimes people wear for their comfort, mood and occasion which has nothing to do with the culture . To explain this I personally do not wear indian traditional clothes most of the time as I do not feel much comfortable in those and I prefer wearing western clothes.
To conclude, I think we can only get an idea about someone’s character and culture by their clothes to some extent due the reasons I mentioned above.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed both parts of the prompt by discussing how clothing relates to culture and character, and by providing your own perspective. Your position is clear throughout the essay. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For example, your point about 'white people' and 'Asian countries' is a broad generalization that lacks nuance and depth. To reach a higher band, try to expand on your arguments with more specific, analytical examples rather than relying on generalizations. The essay covers the requirements, but the depth of analysis remains at a functional level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'To illustrate', and 'On the other hand' to link your ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive, such as 'To add up' and 'To explain this'. Additionally, the flow between sentences could be smoother; some ideas are presented as a list rather than a cohesive argument. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'cultural background', 'fashionable outfit', and 'traditional clothes'. However, the vocabulary is somewhat basic and repetitive. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'To add up' (which is not a standard transition) and 'short clothes' (which is not a natural collocation for revealing clothing). To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and idiomatic expressions related to the topic of identity and social perception.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'everyone every culture i different' (missing verb and typo) and 'I do not feel much comfortable' (incorrect collocation). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement after introductory phrases. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and refining your use of complex sentence structures will help improve your accuracy.
