Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, many people follow the trend of traditional fusion fashion. While many people thinks, they can know about culture and character of the people from their dressing sense. Although, this approch is not without challenges, but I strongly, disagree with that.

First of all, some people want to remain simple, they did not follow their culture or traditional clothes too seriously. They are rather choosing clothes according to their mood or the vibe which they are living. For instance, If you see a person in pajama in office, your first opinion about him its lazy and irresponsible but infact he work long hours in office for their web networking. So, he choose to wear casual clothes to remain easy on work for long hours.

Secondly, many people nowadays, follow other countries traditional and cultural cothes just for sake of trend. For example,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The student attempts to address the prompt by expressing a clear position of disagreement regarding whether clothing reflects culture and character. However, the response is severely underdeveloped and incomplete. Crucially, the length check confirms the response contains only 142 words, falling well short of the 250-word minimum requirement. Furthermore, the second body paragraph cuts off mid-sentence (‘For example,’), leaving the argument entirely unsupported and incomplete. While the writer attempts to introduce relevant ideas such as comfort and modern fashion trends, the lack of completion and severe under-length penalise the task response significantly. Based on the official descriptors, this falls into Band 4 as the task is addressed only minimally.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays some basic attempts at logical organisation with transitional markers such as 'First of all' and 'Secondly'. However, paragraphing is disrupted by the incomplete ending, and the abrupt cut-off prevents any overall progression or conclusion from forming. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'the vibe which they are living', and cohesive devices are limited and mechanical. Despite these structural flaws, the individual sentences within the first half of the text generally follow a recognisable train of thought. Therefore, the coherence and cohesion reflect a Band 5 performance, showing some basic organisation and logical intent, but ultimately lacking adequate development and overall progression.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting words such as 'traditional fusion fashion', 'irresponsible', and 'networking'. However, there are frequent word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text. Examples include 'approch' instead of 'approach', 'cothes' instead of 'clothes', and awkward phrasing like 'remain easy on work'. Spelling errors are noticeable ('approch', 'cothes'), and the lexical range is constrained by the short text length. Because the vocabulary is adequate to convey basic meaning despite the errors and limited range, this performance aligns closely with Band 5 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional and dependent clauses such as 'While many people thinks, they can know...' and 'If you see a person...'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors such as subject-verb agreement issues ('While many people thinks'), incorrect tense and preposition usage ('vibe which they are living', 'easy on work'), and punctuation errors. Furthermore, the abrupt ending of the text leaves syntactic structures incomplete. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader, though basic meaning remains mostly retrievable. This corresponds to a Band 5 level of grammatical control.
