Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that peoples choice of clothing can reveal alot about thier personality and culture. I disagree with statement as garments might give insights about persons customs and culture, or the situation due to which they are wearing a perticular type of clothing, but they are not reliable of judging personalities and traits. In this essay we will discuss the major reasons to support my opinion.
To begin with many individuals wear's garments which reflects their customs and traditions, this is manily due to the surrounding and rituals they grew in and follow what they usually see in their family. For instance in many Indian house holds women wear sari and mens wears turban, this wont allow anyone to do character assasination towards them.
Furthermore, another significant reason why I disagree with the thought is that many people wear garments due to the natural weather conditions, just to protect themselves from harsh enviormental conditions, which allows them to live a comfortable life. For instance, scientists living in antartica wears winter shield jackets, which does not make them less talented or valuable than scientists in suit and pants living near equator. Therefore reflects my opinin.
To conclude, although few people thinks its easy to tell about someone just by their looks and garments. I firmly believe that these opinions are never true and no one can be judged just by their clothing as these might be due to their customs or culture, or others might be wearing it to protect themselves from enviornmental conditions. Therefore resonates the position of my opinion.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position that you disagree with the statement, supported by relevant ideas regarding cultural customs and environmental factors. For example, you appropriately discuss how clothing reflects traditions like saris and turbans, and how practical needs dictate weather-appropriate garments like winter shield jackets for scientists in Antarctica. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others; your elaboration on cultural clothing is clear, but the exploration of character traits remains somewhat underdeveloped and generalised. To move to a higher level, you should extend your arguments further by providing deeper analysis or more detailed personal examples regarding how character is entirely separate from external appearance.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
Your essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from your introduction through distinct body paragraphs to a summarizing conclusion. You make use of standard cohesive devices and transitional markers to guide the reader, such as "To begin with", "Furthermore", and "To conclude". Nonetheless, referencing and cohesion are occasionally mechanical or slightly repetitive, as seen in the formulaic endings to your body paragraphs. Additionally, paragraphing could be managed with greater sophistication. To achieve a higher standard, ensure that cohesive relationships between sentences are smoother and less reliant on basic sequential connectors, allowing the flow of ideas to feel more natural and seamlessly integrated throughout the text.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items and descriptive phrases such as "customs and traditions", "natural weather conditions", and "character assassination". However, there are noticeable spelling errors ("peoples" instead of "people's", "alot", "thier", "perticular", "house holds", "mens", "manily", "enviormental", "antartica", "opinin", "thinks", "enviornmental") and occasional word choice inaccuracies that reveal limitations in lexical control. While communication is not severely impeded, these slips prevent the vocabulary from reaching a higher tier of precision and sophistication. To improve, you need to broaden your lexical flexibility, pay closer attention to word formation and spelling, and ensure that less common vocabulary is used accurately and naturally in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You display a mix of simple and complex sentence forms throughout your response, attempting various multi-clause structures to express your arguments. There are, however, some recurring errors in grammar, punctuation, and agreement, such as subject-verb agreement issues ("individuals wear's", "mens wears"), missing articles, and awkward phrasing within complex clauses. For instance, sentences like "this is manily due to the surrounding and rituals they grew in" contain prepositional and structural inaccuracies. Despite these errors, they rarely impede overall communication. To progress further, you should aim to increase the proportion of error-free complex sentences, refine your command of relative clauses and verb tenses, and exercise greater precision with punctuation and internal grammatical patterns.
