Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address the topic by arguing that clothing can lead people to make judgements about character, and the example of a young man wearing unusual clothes at a ceremony is relevant. However, your position is not fully clear: you describe how people infer qualities from clothing, but do not directly state whether you agree that clothing reliably reveals culture and character. Some claims, such as simple clothes showing that someone is “well being and straight,” are asserted rather than explained, and the response gives little consideration to how clothing may reflect cultural background. State your view clearly in the introduction and develop two reasons with explanation and relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some organisation: the response moves from general comments about clothing to a personal example, and “however” signals a contrast. However, the progression within paragraphs is difficult to follow because several different points are joined into long, unpunctuated stretches. For example, the discussion of simple clothes, wealth, and fancy clothes runs together without clear boundaries. The final example also ends by repeating the idea that people judge others by dress rather than drawing the argument together. Use distinct paragraphs for your position, supporting reasons, and example, and connect each point with clear, accurate transitions and reference.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “background,” “fancy,” “personality,” and “ceremony,” so the reader can identify the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make meaning less clear, such as “well being” for a positive personal quality, “dressing sence,” and “illatrate.” Repeated use of “cloths,” “dress,” and “things” also limits precision. Choose vocabulary that expresses the intended idea accurately—for example, distinguish between clothing, style, and cultural dress—and check spelling carefully. More precise phrases would help you explain whether clothes reflect identity or merely create an impression.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to combine ideas using clauses such as “because nowadays it is very common,” but sentence structures are limited and many attempts at longer sentences are difficult to follow. Errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries occur frequently: “when he going,” “if a man wear,” and “a young man whose a weared” are examples. Missing punctuation also causes several ideas to run together, particularly in the second paragraph. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. Check that each sentence has a subject and correctly formed verb, and use full stops to separate complete ideas.
