Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, there has been considerable debat about whether we can judge someone character by clothes and culture. While some people believe that person clothes does not charactersized someone one character. But I partially agree with this statement because clothes represent people's nature and tell a lot about person culture.

On the one hand, one major reason is that clothes sometime not tell truth about someone character because. clothes is the freedom of choice. We cannot judge someone character by clothes. For example, if someone wear fully covered clothes we create image of that person in mind as a pure and cultural but that in personal life is opposite outgoing and bad mouth. Therefore we cannot judge someone character by clothes.

On the other hand, I firmly believe that we can judge one cultural by clothes but not a character because india are rich in cultural one can easily identify from their dressup like from which religion that person belong. For instance if someone waer turbun means he is sikh, If someone wear dhoti kurta that person belong to rajsathan. Gown represent chrisitian. carrying veil represent that person is hail from harayana. in my opinion we change individual culture by clothes and yes partially agree that clothes represnt someone character too. sometime our logic give right answer but somehow it is not correct everytime. Therefore, nowadays people are open minded so they can wear every type of dress according to purpose and choice doesnt means who wear reviling dress is astheist.

In conclusion, although clothes can identify some character but I believe that clothes identify citizen clutural and their nature according to the culture. Because clothing relieve someone how they represent their nationality and freedom of choices.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address the question and state a qualified position: you agree that clothing can indicate culture, but are less convinced that it reveals character. The contrast between the two body paragraphs supports this view, and the examples of turbans, dhoti-kurta and veils are relevant to cultural identity. However, the argument about character is less fully developed: the example of someone whose appearance differs from their private behaviour is asserted rather than explained, and the final paragraph shifts between culture, character, nationality and freedom of choice. Clarify exactly what clothing can and cannot show, then develop each reason with a more precise explanation or example. This would make your response to all parts of the question more consistently clear and complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs and a conclusion. Phrases such as “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the change in viewpoint. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and some linking is mechanical or unclear. For example, the first body paragraph moves from freedom of choice to a hypothetical example without clearly connecting the two. The final body paragraph contains several ideas in one long sequence, making the relationship between cultural dress, character and open-mindedness difficult to follow. Use clearer topic sentences and divide or reorder ideas so each paragraph develops one main point; make references such as “that person” and “this statement” more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “freedom of choice,” “cultural” and “identify,” and you attempt to discuss distinctions between character and culture. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms make meaning unclear, such as “judge one cultural,” “change individual culture by clothes” and “clothing relieve someone.” Spelling errors, including “debat,” “waer” and “clutural,” also reduce accuracy. Some expressions are repeated, particularly “judge someone character” and “clothes.” Build a more precise set of phrases for describing what clothing indicates, and check spelling and word forms. For example, use “reflect cultural identity” rather than “change individual culture by clothes.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast introduced by “although” and a conditional example beginning “if someone…”. However, control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make the intended relationships difficult to understand. Examples include “we can judge someone character,” “if someone wear,” and “that person belong,” where possessives and subject–verb agreement are not controlled. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention: “because. clothes is the freedom of choice” breaks the sentence incorrectly, while the final body paragraph runs several clauses together. Practise accurate sentence patterns, especially articles, possessives, agreement and punctuation, before adding more complex clauses. Clearer sentence construction will help your ideas come across reliably.
