Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that a person's choice of clothing can reveal a great deal about their culture and personality. I partly agree with thid view because clothing can may reflect the cultural traditions and personal perferences; however, it cannot accurately represent someone's entire character.
To begin with, clothing can surely provide valuable insight into person's tradition or culture but that does not signifies there character. This is because people from different cultures wear traditional clothes often there is festivales, weddings or any other special occassions. For example, in India, whenever there is festive or special occassions they wear traditional outfits like salwar kameez or sarees. This can reflect their tradition or culture they have.
On the other hand, I believe that clothing is not a reliable way to judge someone's character. This is because people choose their outfits for different reasons, including comfort, affordability, weather and workplace requirements. For example, person wearing expensive and luxury kind of clothing can be rude or indifferent or maybe just trying to showcase or prove something else. On the other side, person wearing simple clothes can be kind and decent towards other people.
To conclude, I partly agree that clothing can reveal information about a person's cultural background and personal perferences. Nevertheless, I believe that it is impossible to understand someone's complete character simply by looking at what they wear, because it depends on different type of logics or situations they had in their mind or life while deciding what to wear on a random day.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you partly agree because clothing may reflect culture and preferences but cannot represent a person’s whole character. You address both sides and give relevant examples, including traditional Indian clothing and the contrast between expensive and simple dress. This covers the task well. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: the India example shows cultural dress but could explain more specifically what it communicates, while the character examples rely on broad contrasts. To strengthen the response further, develop each example with a clearer link to your claim and acknowledge that clothing can offer clues without proving someone’s personality.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs, and a conclusion that returns to your partly agreeing position. The progression from cultural meaning to the limits of judging character is easy to follow, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” help guide the reader. Some linking is less natural or repetitive, particularly “On the other side,” which repeats the contrast already established by “On the other hand.” A few references, such as “This can reflect their tradition or culture they have,” are not fully clear. Use more precise links between claims and examples, and vary transitions without adding them mechanically.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “cultural traditions,” “traditional outfits,” “affordability,” and “workplace requirements.” These choices make the main ideas understandable, but the range and control are uneven, which limits precision. Several spelling errors—“thid,” “perferences,” “festivales,” and “occassions”—are noticeable, and some phrases are awkward or imprecise, such as “luxury kind of clothing,” “showcase or prove something else,” and “different type of logics.” Aim for more natural collocations and accurate word forms. For example, describe clothing as “expensive designer wear,” and explain that choices may reflect “practical considerations” or “social expectations.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession in the introduction and explanations with “because.” The overall meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make sentences difficult to process. Examples include “clothing can may reflect,” “insight into person’s tradition,” “that does not signifies,” and “person wearing simple clothes,” where modal use, articles, agreement, or sentence structure need correction. The final sentence is also overloaded, making its relationships between ideas unclear. Practise accurate article use and subject–verb agreement, and divide long sentences into shorter units. More consistent control of these patterns would make your varied sentence forms clearer.
