Student answer (Band 6.0)

We are living in a consumerism era, where fashion changes every second. Some people opine that a person's clothes can tell his culture and character. I am partially agree with this notion and would describe my opinion in the following paragraphs.

Firstly, nowadays folks wear clothes according to their taste and choice which can tell alot about their background, culture and personality. Even though, in this competitive world it is hard to notice others and think about them but people get a idea about others while seeing their outfits. For example, In India, people wear traditional clothes which describe their culture to others.

On the other hand, due to globalisation, people tend to wear western clothes and following their fashion which becomes popular these days. It become hard to say about others culture because everyone is following same trend and style specially in west countries. So, it is tough job to find someone's tradition.

Moreover, In the countries like Canada and America, everyone is so indulged in their work and busy schedules that no one has a time to look others and make a perception about them. This world has become a materialistic where all are busy to get their things and complete their desires.

To conclude, I am partial agree with this saying that people's clothes can describe their culture, values, background and character. There are some areas in the world where it is not possible because of the routine and life of people but in other parts of the world, it is seen and people still make opinion about others from their clothes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you partially agree that clothing can reveal culture and character, while global fashion and busy lifestyles make this less reliable. The India example supports the cultural point, and the discussion of Western clothing gives a relevant counterpoint. This addresses the question, but the two sides are not developed equally: the claim about character is mentioned in the introduction and conclusion but receives little explanation or evidence. The point about people in Canada and America being too busy to notice others also shifts from what clothing reveals to whether observers pay attention. To strengthen the response, explain how clothing choices might indicate personality and qualify broad claims with a specific, relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate body paragraphs presenting contrasting points, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “On the other hand,” and “Moreover” help readers follow the discussion. However, some links are mechanical, and the relationship between ideas is not always clear. For instance, the paragraph about busy schedules does not fully connect to the question of whether clothes reveal character or culture. The conclusion repeats the main points rather than drawing them together. Improve progression by making each paragraph develop one aspect of your position and using clearer references to connect examples to the central argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “globalisation,” “traditional clothes,” “personality,” and “materialistic,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more descriptive phrasing, such as “competitive world” and “busy schedules.” However, several word choices and collocations are awkward or imprecise, including “consumerism era,” “following their fashion,” and “make a perception.” Some expressions are also repetitive, particularly references to people being busy and to trends or styles. Aim for more natural combinations and greater precision when discussing what clothing communicates. Proofread spelling and word forms as well, such as “alot,” which should be written as “a lot.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a subordinate clause in “Even though … it is hard to notice others” and a contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “I am partially agree” and “It become hard,” where the verb forms are incorrect, and “people … has a time,” where subject–verb agreement is faulty. Articles and sentence construction also need attention in “people get a idea” and “This world has become a materialistic.” Review agreement, verb forms, and article use, then check each sentence for a complete and natural grammatical structure. More accurate control of these patterns would make your argument easier to read.
