Student answer (Band 6.0)

Life is all about choosing from alternatives. Originally, it begins from a daily practices such as choice of clothes and food. These minute things becomes a fundamental of judgement for the society. Some proportion of believes that clothes speak about individual's background as well as individual's character. However, my viewpoint is in conflict with this notion which I would clear in the following paragraphs.

Whatever a person is wearing reflects a outer perspective of his or her mind regarding covering a body. For majority of the population, the physical appearance is considered as an entire being. However, in reality the true essence of soul has nothing to do with how the people are representing themselves in the world. To elucidate each and every person who is claiming himself as a saint always wears orange kurtas and carries every other thing which gives an impression of spirituality. Therefore, on the basis of an outlook the person exactly imbibes as holy person but in reality where they actually stands in terms of spirituality could not be estimated precisely.

Similarly, there is prevelance of dress codes in every work culture whether it is food industry, medical profession, civil services, businesses. Accordingly, if the female staff in restaurant is obliged to wear shorts or dresses, could we label them as characterless? In this universe, everyone has authority to express their speech, to wear clothes according to their interest. Conclusively, nobody has right to question them and categorise them as good or bad as per society's standard rationalisim. In general, something which significantly demands consciousness while observing anybody is their actions. For example the wisdom which displays from actions and thoughts intead from clothes.

Overall, classifying the people as cultural, spiritual, western solely on the basis of their outer appearance is immature outlook by the society. In reality, there is much more ahead of this old thought in terms of acknowledging the inner self of human beings.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you disagree that clothing reliably reveals a person’s character, and you support this with relevant examples, including the apparent spirituality of someone dressed as a saint and restaurant dress codes. You also address the cultural dimension by challenging judgments based on outward appearance. These points make the response relevant and cover the task, but some are more fully explained than others. The saint example illustrates the gap between appearance and inner character, while the restaurant example raises a useful question but does not fully explain how clothing might or might not indicate culture. To strengthen the argument, develop each example with a clearer explanation and acknowledge that clothing can sometimes offer clues about cultural identity without proving character.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction states your disagreement, two body paragraphs present reasons and examples, and the conclusion restates your view. Signposting such as “Similarly,” “For example,” and “Overall” helps readers follow the argument. However, some connections feel mechanical or unclear. For instance, “Accordingly” does not clearly show how the list of workplace dress codes leads to the question about restaurant staff, and “In general” introduces a new point about actions without a smooth transition. Some references, such as “every other thing,” are also vague. To move beyond this level, make the links between claims and examples more precise, and ensure each paragraph develops one central idea in a clear sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary and attempt less common expressions, including “true essence,” “spirituality,” “categorise,” and “outer appearance.” These choices help communicate your argument, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “a fundamental of judgement,” “an entire being,” and “society’s standard rationalisim.” There are also spelling errors, including “prevelance” and “intead,” which reduce precision. Aim for natural, accurate phrasing rather than choosing elaborate expressions that do not fit the context. For example, “a basis for judging people” is clearer than “a fundamental of judgement,” while “social standards” is more idiomatic than “society’s standard rationalisim.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including contrast and conditional structures, as in “However, in reality…” and “if the female staff in restaurant is obliged to wear…”. The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. Examples include “a daily practices,” “These minute things becomes,” and “where they actually stands,” which show problems with articles, agreement, and verb forms. In the restaurant sentence, the conditional structure is awkwardly formed, and the question that follows is not smoothly integrated. Review subject–verb agreement, singular and plural forms, and article use, then check complex sentences for a complete and consistent structure. More accurate control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to follow.
