Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, most of the individuals judge each other by what they wear. Therefore, many people argue that we can predict a person's culture and character from their personality. I am largely disagree with this notion due to the modernization of society and the increase in literacy rates among the masses.
To commence with the views of disagreement, first and foremost, in the 21st century, people can wear whatever they want and mostly they like to wear clothes in which they feel comfortable. To cite an example, in Canada, where people from different backgrounds live together, everyone wears almost the same type of clothes, such as jeans and tops. Hence, it can be clearly seen that in most societies, people wear the same type of clothes. Moreover, some people also claim that in earlier times, they wore traditional clothes according to their culture. However, as they grow up in modern society, they forget their roots, and everyone loves to copy each other. As a result, these days it is very difficult to tell anything from the choice of clothes.
On the other hand, there are those who argue that it is very easy to tell about a person's character and culture from what they wear. To explain this, people who wear suits and saris are from India, as most the indians wear this type of clothes. Furthermore, there are certain types of clothes that are worn by everyone according to their job professions. Therefore, in these situations, it is difficult to make a decision about a person's character; for example, pilots and advocates all have different sorts of clothes according to their jobs.
In conclusion, although some individuals like make a guess about culture from the way of clothes, yet I believe that in modern society it is difficult to distinguish.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is identifiable: you largely disagree that clothing reliably reveals culture or character, and you give relevant points about shared modern fashion and work uniforms. The Canada example helps illustrate how clothing styles can overlap across backgrounds. However, the response only partly develops the question: the discussion of literacy rates in the introduction is not explained later, and the paragraph beginning “On the other hand” gives examples that are confusing or do not clearly support the opposing view. The claim that suits and saris identify people as Indian is also too broad, and character receives little direct discussion. To strengthen the response, explain each main reason and use examples that clearly show why clothing is or is not a reliable guide to both culture and character.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “Moreover,” “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad direction. However, progression within the argument is uneven. The second body paragraph is introduced as an opposing view, but its examples about national dress and job uniforms then lead to the point that it is difficult to judge character, so the relationship between the ideas is not always clear. Some linking phrases, including “To commence with the views of disagreement,” sound mechanical, and the conclusion repeats the main position without drawing together the reasons. Use clearer topic sentences and make each example’s connection to the paragraph’s claim explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “traditional clothes,” “backgrounds,” “modern society” and “according to their job professions,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “To cite an example.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and sometimes blur meaning: “predict a person’s culture and character from their personality” does not express the task’s idea, while “views of disagreement” and “make a decision about a person’s character” are awkward in context. Repetition of “clothes” and “people” also limits precision. Aim for more natural collocations and use terms such as “dress,” “clothing choices,” “infer” and “judge” accurately; check spelling and capitalisation of “Indians” as well.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning “where,” “as” and “although,” and most sentences communicate the intended meaning. Some grammatical errors remain, but they rarely prevent understanding. For example, “I am largely disagree” uses the wrong verb form, and “as most the indians wear” is missing an article and has incorrect capitalisation. In “some individuals like make a guess,” the verb pattern is faulty; “although … yet” also combines two contrasting structures unnecessarily. There are some issues with articles and sentence construction, but your meaning is usually recoverable. Review verb patterns after “like,” subject–verb forms, articles, and how to construct concessive sentences, then proofread for punctuation and sentence boundaries.
